About me

Hello, my name is Gina,

Life can be challenging, and everyday issues can soon become unmanageable when we are not feeling ourselves. We all need some help and support at some point in our life's and part of being emotionally healthy is knowing when to ask for help.

Knowing who to choose and where to go can be difficult, so here is a little about me and how I work. I am a Client Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over 15 years of post qualified experience, as a therapist.

My training and experience allows me to work alongside you and match my style to yours whilst adapting to your needs.

I will support you and help you to make sense of and cope with the difficulties you are experiencing, we will then explore together the best way to help you to heal and to work towards you reaching your full potential. Psychotherapy works especially well with issues such as childhood impacts, trauma, anxiety and depression, as well as sudden unexpected events, such as bereavement, relationship issues, and recovery from addictive behaviour/s.

I offer you a safe, confidential secure space to be heard and to explore what's going on for you, respectfully and without judgement.

What to expect: I offer a free initial telephone assessment in which we will explore, what's going on for you, what support you may need and how I may be able to offer that. Feel free to call, text or email me to set up this meeting or to find out more. Within the centre there are a team of counsellors and therapists that can also offer you support if we felt that was a better option.

I offer daytime and some early evening appointments.

Practicalities: I work from Serenity Self Care & Wellbeing in the centre of Darwen, based on the first floor of Holker House (Darwen Heritage trust are on the ground floor), there are stairs to the therapy rooms so please check with me if you have any disability. I also offer sessions by telephone or video calling.

Payment: I accept payment by Cash, Bank transfer or PayPal

Getting there:

By Car: Free parking is available outside, across and at the back of the building, the market roof top offers further free parking.

By Bus: Directly across from Darwen Town Centre bus station.

By Train:  Darwen train station is a couple of minutes walk away.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
