I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I work with adults and young people (18+) in Godalming and Guildford.
How I can help
We all have times in our lives when experiences or circumstances can throw us off balance and make daily life hard to cope with. This is when it can be helpful to talk to a caring and compassionate professional who is not part of our day-to-day life. Working together, we can explore the difficulty or crisis which brings you to therapy.
What to expect in your first session
In your first session it is important to establish whether we both feel we are a "good fit" by exploring what has lead you to seek therapy. Research has shown that the relationship between you and your therapist is even more important than the type of therapy offered. I believe this starts with my truly listening to your hopes and fears and tailoring my approach to your needs. We will be led by your concerns and go at your pace. I offer a supportive and gentle environment in which to work through your difficulties.
I am trained in person-centred and existential counselling and refer to aspects of both of these depending on your particular situation and tendencies.
I work both in private practice and for a mental health charity and I have experience in a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, parenting issues, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties and navigating a period of significant change, whatever that may entail.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
