ABOUT ME

My passion for therapeutic work has been the culmination of 21 years working with Individuals, Families, Young People and Children. My life experiences in these areas were my inspiration to continue in training as a therapist. Over the years I have been both inspired and humbled by the people I have worked with, particularly the capacity of individuals to strive towards positive growth even when life experiences have been traumatic and life circumstances difficult. The human capacity to overcome adversity never ceases to amaze me and this continues to drive my passion for this work.

My experience has provided me with the fundamental belief that whilst there are common elements to the human condition, we are all ultimately unique .Not one of us experiences life in the exact same way as anyone else. It has been this belief that led me to train as an integrative therapist and this has allowed me to develop a unique way of working. I use a variety of theory and techniques to enable you to explore yourself in a way which has meaning to you as an individual.

I am passionate about helping you explore both past relationships and experiences alongside the present circumstances which have bought you to therapy. By exploring these together, it becomes possible to highlight patterns and themes which can then be worked on therapeutically to increase self-awareness and to help create positive lasting changes which have meaning. Living life to the fullest, in the present is something which we all   aspire to.

I myself, continue to strive towards positive growth. Professionally I continue to learn, attending lectures, courses and events related to my work. In doing this I continue to increase my own knowledge and keep up to date with the relevant skills and techniques that in turn help to ensure that you receive a good, well rounded and professional service. I am fully accredited by the BACP and alongside my psychotherapy practice , I teach counselling to trainees and provide clinical supervision to other counselling practitioners.

As well as working with individuals in Private Practice, I have worked in organisational settings including Addiction, Young people , mental health, families and bereavement. I also work as a tutor for counselling trainees.I am able to provide both short term and long term therapy and am able to work with a wide range of presenting issues.

Whether you are currently feeling low, depressed, experiencing social or general anxiety, suffering bereavement, having difficulty in relationships, have suffered abuse,  are struggling to make life choices or feel you need support in another area of life,  reaching out for help is a positive first step. I appreciate the importance of choosing the right therapist to support you on your journey. With this in mind I am happy to answer any questions you may have of me. Please feel free to make contact with me and I will endeavour to answer queries in an honest and open manner.

MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Further information

Should you wish to go ahead with counselling , you will first be offered an initial assessment session. This is an opportunity to explore your needs and expectations of therapy and get an idea of how we might work together to make some sense of your concerns ,and perhaps, find some way forward which has meaning for you.

Should you decide to continue with me, you will be offered weekly sessions at the same time each week for the duration of therapy.

You will be asked to sign a written counselling agreement which we will both adhere to for the duration of therapy.

Deciding to undertake therapy can feel daunting and I appreciate the importance of choosing the right person to support you on your journey. With this in mind , I am happy to answer any specific questions you may have prior to an assessment. Feel free to email or call me with any questions you may have. If I am unable to answer the phone, please leave a message and I will call back as soon as I am able to.
