About me

Do you want to feel happier? Do you suffer with anxiety, depression, feeling sad or low self esteem? Maybe you feel stuck and have lost yourself? Sometimes there is a specific reason and we know what is making us feel that way, other times it appears there is no reason at all. Counselling can help unpick whats going on, identify those thoughts and for it to feel less overwhelming in a safe and non judgmental way.

I work with young people (11+) and adults and work with a variety of presenting issues including but not exclusive to: - self harm, stress, anxiety, neurodiversity (ASD, ADHD), depression,  suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), family issues, relationships, bullying, bereavement, OCD, issues, divorce and school issues.

I work in an Integrative way with Person Centred being at the core and provide short or long term therapy depending on individual needs. This is a personal choice and there is no obligation for you to stay any longer than you feel is necessary or that you can cope with.

I provide individual face to face and phone/online therapy

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor for the last six years. Alongside my Private Practice, I volunteered with a charity for many years working with children, young people and adults. I also worked part time as a College Counsellor for teens and adults and spent over five years as a Welfare Officer in a Safeguarding Team in Bucks. More recently I have been a telephone Counsellor for an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing short term, solution focussed therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
