Sarah Walsh BSc(Hons) Addiction Counselling, MBACP reg, FDAP accredited (DAP)
I specialise in counselling people who have concerns around their own or another’s alcohol consumption, drug use or other compulsive behaviors such as obsessive internet use and gambling.
Some people come to me wanting to control their behaviour, while others may want to stop all together. Others may have stopped their addictive behaviour, but want to address issues which they believe may have led them to behave in that manner.
I have a particular interest in working with individuals who feel alcohol is now their main 'hobby' or 'activity' outside working hours, and are concerned about the affect this may be having on their life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have nearly 20 years of sustained sobriety from alcohol and abstinence from drugs, having overcome 20 years of alcohol and drug misuse.
I hold a BSc Honours Degree in Addiction Counselling from The University of Bath.
From 2015 to 2018 was a specialist addiction & mental health advisor for The Care Quality Commission.
I trained with Action on Addiction at The Centre for Addiction Studies.
