About me
Hi, I am Sarah. I am an integrative therapist and use a person-centred core model as an integral part of my practice. Person-centred therapy is a non-directive approach to talking therapy. I will act as a guide and support to minimise any negative feelings you may have so you have better self-esteem and trust in yourself. You'll be encouraged to bring your own issues to the session – you lead the counselling. I can help you explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and life view to become more self-aware and achieve better-coping strategies and understanding of yourself. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you. I counsel clients who have suffered from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and childhood trauma. Mental health can be caused by current life problems and childhood and past experiences.
I strongly believe given the right conditions, we all have the ability to understand ourselves better. Sometimes, we lose sight of our way forward due to external circumstances or people around us. I ensure the appropriate conditions are in place - when they are in place, we can think and feel ourselves again. I provide a safe, confidential and honest environment with unconditional positive regard, respect, warmth and empathy.
I offer a non-judgmental and supportive space as you work through the difficulties you are facing while I assist. l, listen to you, and I am with you every step of the way as you share your story. I am keen to work with you and find out how best to support you.
As a counsellor, I welcome diversity into my practice and pride myself in creating an inclusive atmosphere for clients. Previously, I have worked with clients from BAME and LGBTQ+ communities, so I understand the struggles that can be experienced.
I adhere to the BACP ethical framework and attend monthly supervision and regular CPD training to ensure I am familiar with the latest research and practices.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and my work has been with adults, young people and children. I currently work as a counsellor at an agency. In addition to this, I am a trainee CBT IAPT therapist for the NHS.
I hold a CPCAB professional diploma in integrative therapeutic counselling and I am currently studying for a postgraduate diploma in CBT IAPT therapy.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
At first, I offer a 15 minute free phone call. It is important you feel comfortable and safe throughout the counselling process.
After this, I will invite you to a get to know you session and charge £30 for the initial session. If we agree to work together my session fee is £50 for a 50 minute session. I don’t advise but I will offer practical solutions or referrals if necessary. In the first session, we will have some time to discuss the contract and agree on if and how we can work together.
