About me

Welcome and thanks for looking.

During these challenging times, I have immediate availablity for online and telephone counselling, and have recently re-opened for face to face counselling with specific guidelines in place for safety.

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor. I can help you with things such as anxiety, relationship issues, low mood, abuse, addictions, loss, life purpose, depression, young adult issues (18-25) and many other issues that may trouble you. I have recently worked for the NHS, but am now currently in full-time private practice.

The length of therapy can vary depending on what you would like to talk about and your personal circumstances. It is your decision to decide when to finish. I am experienced in working with both short term 4-12 sessions or more long term and open ended. The choice is entirely up to you.

While great changes can occur in a relatively short space of time it is good to allow enough space relative to the significance of your issue. The counselling will be confidential and I aim to create a warm, welcoming and restorative space.

I work from a Humanistic perspective meaning that I believe everyone deserves respect, everyone is an individual and that their experience is the most important aspect, therefore I believe the client has the answer and I am but a guide in helping them find their answers or acceptance.

I believe it is important that we work together to tune into what has brought you to counselling and what you would like out of it. I believe a combination of being given a positive relationship and the possibility to explore new ways of experiencing can lead to healing and change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
