MBACP Holding Space Counselling & Therapy

About me

Are you looking for a space in which you can feel understood, heard and valued without fear of judgement or criticism? Holding Space Counselling and Therapy offers exactly that, with therapeutic support and intervention for a variety of different issues and mental health concerns. I’m Sarah and I am a fully qualified Person-Centred & Experiential therapist that has worked with people from many walks of life and with a varity of issues troubling them.

What I Can Offer

Clients coming to a session with me can expect a non-judgmental, warm and genuine connection that has them and their experience at the heart of our work. My approach to therapy is that clients do not need told what to do or made to feel like they have to fix something. Instead, acceptance and embracing us for who we are can be a much more effective driver for seeing change. However, it is important that we collaborate on what you want to get out of our work together and what works best for you; this would be discussed throughout sessions.

My education is within Psychology and Psychotherapy, meaning I have the knowledge to help you explore and work through your emotions and experiences, as well as having an understanding of the impacts of physiology, development and behaviour can have on mental health.

As an inidividual that has had their own therapuetic journey, I know that therapy can be a wonderful tool for change and development. Whether you are looking to change or to understand yourself more, I would love to join you on that journey. If you are still unsure or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me for a free 20-minute consultation where I can answer any questions or worries you may have.

Working Patterns and Delivery of Sessions
I am currently working online and over the phone, with a view of having in-person sessions later in the year, this is all dependent on Covid and government guidelines.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
