About me

Are you looking for a space in which you can feel understood and valued without fear of judgement or criticism? Holding Space Counselling and Psychotherapy offers exactly that, with therapeutic support and intervention for a variety of different issues and mental health concerns. I’m Sarah and I am a fully qualified Person-Centered & Experiential therapist that has worked with people from many walks of life and with different mental health concerns.

What I Can Offer You
Clients coming to a session with me can expect a non-judgmental, warm and genuine connection that has them and their experience at the heart of our work. Therapy is an excellent place to process and let go of difficult experiences, explore parts of ourselves we are unhappy with and/or to support us in reaching our full potential. My approach to therapy is to support clients in finding the answers to the questions they seek from themselves, rather than being told what to do or made to feel like they have to fix something. Instead, providing an environment that is accepting and collaborative in working towards potential resolutions or solutions can be a lot more effective. I am keen to work in a way that suits your needs and believe in collaboration; this would be discussed throughout sessions.

Throughout sessions I provide clients with a space that holds and tentatively challenges them, allowing them to understand their story and experiences through a different lens and occasionally brings in psychoeducation or psychology. Additionally, exploring inner conflict and the different voices/selves we have inside of us is also a big part of my work with clients.

My education is within Psychology and Psychotherapy, meaning I have the understanding and training to help you explore and work through your emotions and experiences, as well as having an knowledge of the impacts of physiology, development and behaviour can have on mental health.

Therapy can be a wonderful tool for change and development. Whether you are looking to change your life or to understand yourself more, I would love to join you on that journey. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me for a free 20-minute consultation where I can answer any questions or worries you may have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
