Welcome to my counselling and psychotherapy profile. As a qualified and experienced Relational Integrative Psychotherapist/Counsellor I will seek to develop a way of working with you which is the most appropriate to your individual style and the subject matter you wish to address.
I have a wide range of therapeutic expertise, alongside my vast life/work experience, enabling me to work with clients of varying backgrounds and with different life issues. I am also committed to supporting others to build upon their self-esteem, heal, grow and develop themselves. I am able to provide a safe, confidential, compassionate, non-judgemental and supportive environment, so that together we can explore whatever difficulties you are experiencing. My client's advise that they find me to be friendly, patient and approachable, thereby assisting them to openly express their emotions and discuss life events which they previously been unable to talk about.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a UKCP registered Relational Integrative Psychotherapist/Counsellor and member of SCPTI. I work in private practice as a therapist in the Scarborough area. I also work in the Ryedale/Scarborough area for an independent charitable counselling organisation. I also provide work place counselling for employees - working with civil servants, NHS staff and teachers etc.
I have 14 + years experience of working in statutory services with adults and their carers of varying ages who have enduring physical and/or mental health needs, autism, brain injuries, dementia, and learning disabilities. I have also previously worked for 6 years on a mental health telephone support line for individuals in crisis/distress and at suicide risk.
My therapeutic work includes individuals with depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss/bereavement (including ill-health, redundancy, end of life), bullying/discrimination, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, abuse (including domestic, childhood sexual abuse), victims of crime, self-harm and addictions, and issues around sexuality.
I also work with victims of different crimes (including assaults and domestic abuse) and survivors of childhood/adult sexual abuse supported through the 'Supporting Victims of North Yorkshire' scheme. I am a member of PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors) and attend their training programmes.
I am able to provide a safe, confidential, compassionate, non-judgemental and supportive environment, and I am committed to my own ongoing professional development and supporting clients in reaching their potential and improving their quality of life.
I am happy to undertake brief or long-term work. I am also able to complete home visits if deemed appropriate.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Very happy to have a non-chargeable initial short chat online or by phone to see if therapy is suitable for you.
£40.00 per hourly sessions. There is a reduced fee of £30 payable for our first assessment session. Some concessions can be considered.
Sessions are usually held at the Scarborough Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Institute (SCPTI), 1 Westbourne Grove, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 2DJ or at the South of Scarborough.
Some mornings/early afternoons & evenings (6-9pm)
Some weekly & fortnightly sessions.
Online (variable platforms e.g. Skype, Teams, Zoom) or telephone sessions are available for those unable to travel. I am available for evening work, which is ideal for shift workers and parents with young children. I am happy to undertake brief or long-term work.
Home visits are possible pending discussion and if appropriate.
