Dr Sarah Saveker
My name is Dr Sarah Saveker (BA Hons, MSc, DClinPsy), I am a HCPC registered clinical psychologist who specialises in child and adult mental health. My service offers psychological support, assessment, and treatment for a variety of psychological difficulties. Most people experience psychological difficulties at one time or another during their life, and often problems are a natural human response to stressful situations. Many mental health difficulties are treatable and may not endure for extended periods of time if the correct help and support is provided.
I also work with children, and have experience working in Looked After Children residential services, and can offer help to foster and adoptive parents using attachment informed approaches. I work with adolescents who are experiencing anxiety, difficulty in relationships, and self harm.
I have experience treating a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, phobias, relational problems, trauma, and most of my experience is treating more complex difficulties such as psychosis, problems related to disrupted early attachments, and personality disorders.
As a clinical psychologist, I am able to draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and cater these to the individualised needs of the client. A collaborative decision is made between myself and the client based on what treatment is most effective for the difficulties encountered, and what the client feels happy working with. I use a range of different approaches, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR, and CBT. I use attachment based approaches and the PACE model when working with children and foster / adoptive parents. This list is not exhaustive; I will discuss with you what approach may be a 'good fit' following the initial assessment. If you would like to know whether I can be of assistance or would like an informal chat to find out more, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a degree in Criminology, a Masters degree in Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Lancaster University. I have worked in acute mental health settings (both NHS and the private sector) for over ten years and have experience assessing and treating a variety of mental health difficulties. I have worked in acute mental health hospitals, community mental health services, and the prison service. Please do not hesitate to contact me for an informal discussion about whether I am able to assist you.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) who are the governing body for practitioner psychologists. The HCPC ensures that practitioner psychologists meet the standards for training, skills, and practice.
