Sarah Rodway BA Hons, MBACP
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working within Bristol and North Somerset.
I have spent many years working with a variety of people, working with everything from a 'sense of feeling lost' to complex concerns or trauma. I hold the relationship between myself and my clients in the highest regard, working uniquely with each individual depending on their concerns. I am approachable and compassionate, providing a safe confidential space to work for as long as the client chooses.
Therapy can be a chance to work through a specific concern or an opportunity to explore yourself. You may feel that something from your past is stopping you from moving forward, or perhaps you just feel empty or alone: in either case, I can offer you the time and attention to explore how you are feeling and make sense of how this affects your behaviour.
If you are unsure about therapy, or would just like to know more details about me, please do not hesitate to contact me. My website has more information about me and my work but if you still have questions, just ask!
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Level 6 Diploma in Integrative Counselling (person-centred, gestalt and psychodynamic) from the University of the West of England, where I also completed my Certificate in Counselling and a Certificate in Transactional Analysis. I currently run a private practice in Portishead, where I work on a one-to-one basis with clients, as well as running ad-hoc training workshops to groups.
Since qualifying my training has been further strengthened by ongoing workshops and courses, as well as my work with a Bristol-based charity that provide therapy for clients dealing with addiction and/or mental health concerns.
My in-depth training means I have specific experience of complex issues such as:
- Working with survivors of abuse
With my private client work extending my experience to include:
- Eating Disorders
- Loss of sense of self
- Low Self-Esteem/Self worth
- Post-Natal Depression
- Obsessive behaviours
- Suicidal Ideation
When I am not working in private practice I also run a peer-supported community cafe in Portishead. The group is run by volunteers and is called Mum's the Word. It provides fortnightly support and contact points for mums who may be feeling isolated or alone. For further information please visit: https://www.facebook.com/MTWPortishead/
