About me
We all have times in our life when we may feel overwhelmed or are faced with things that are difficult to think about on our own. Yet talking to people close to us may also feel difficult. I offer a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental and friendly space as a therapist, where we will explore whatever difficulty you may bring, to develop personal growth through a deeper understanding, acceptance, and change.
I respect that everyone is uniquely different and as an integrative therapist l draw from a variety of theories and methods in order to meet your needs in a way that suits you. Everyone has a right to healing and living the way they choose – and that includes you too.
I have lived experience of neurodivergence and understand the challenges this may bring.
The relationship between myself and yourself is important for the effectiveness of our work, and l will work in a way that respects your uniqueness. This ensures that l understand 'your' experience from 'your perspective'. Nurturing, growth and compassion are present throughout my work because l believe they are fundamental for hope and future fulfilment.
I offer face to face therapy sessions from welcoming and comfortable spaces in North Leeds and Ilkley. I also work nationally on-line.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to assure you of the high quality of my work. This means that as well as delivering a high standard of practice following comprehensive training, l follow the BACP ethical practice code which assures you that my practice is in line with current research and professional thinking and that your wellbeing and safety is paramount. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University. I have 30 years of experience in therapeutic work within the NHS. I have undergone additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy and am a member of The Compassionate Mind Foundation. I am also an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss and have undergone additional training in baby loss and birth trauma. I have completed a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and integrate elements where beneficial. I am a domestic abuse ambassador for a large NHS Trust and have lived experience of ADHD and Autism. Please do see my website for more detailed information on my training and experience.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I will work with you to gain insight to your current difficulties. Some people prefer solely talking while others prefer the integration of different tools and practices to help you begin to feel more control over your life and less ruled by circumstances outside of your control.
None of us has the ability to change our past, however with insight and compassion, we can learn how to grow and make the right choices for our future. That may feel impossible right now but no matter where you are starting from, it is possible. I would love to be able to support you to take that first step to the rest of your life.
If you feel l may be the right therapist for you then do please contact me for a free 20 minute call.
