About me

Counselling for individuals, for couples and online.  Counselling for you.

"People start to heal the moment they feel heard" (Cheryl Richardson.com)

Sometimes life can just feel overwhelming.  Everything can become too much for us, and we can get to a point where we don't know where to turn, or who to turn to.  Our friends and family can be really supportive, but there can come a time when you may feel that perhaps this just isn't enough, or you may even worry that you are putting too much pressure on them.  This is where I can offer you the space, time and support to sort out what is going on for you, and support you to find a happier way of living for you.

How I work as a Counsellor

I offer integrative counselling which is very much a combined approach.  I believe that no single approach can treat each client in all situations so it means I can tailor your therapy to your specific needs.  I am always happy to discuss my integrative approach and answer any questions you may have.

I offer counselling for individuals and couples on a face to face basis.  I also offer counselling online via webcam, instant messaging or email for individuals.

Phone or email me for a no obligation consultation where we can discuss what it is you want from your counselling.

Counselling for You (Individual)

People come to counselling for many different reasons, and your reasons for coming to see me will be personal to you. But by coming to see me, I will offer you a safe and confidential environment, where you can identify, shed light upon and deal with your reasons for coming to counselling.

Together we can explore and reflect upon what you feel needs to change in your life. Together we can look at alternative ways of managing these thoughts, feelings and emotions, leading to greater self-knowledge and understanding of relationships not just with others, but importantly with yourself. Coming to counselling will be a rewarding and life changing experience. You do not have to struggle alone, I am here to help and support you. Take that first step and call or email me.  You are worth it.

Counselling for You and Your Partner (Couples)

Your relationship with your partner will be one of the closest relationships you will have formed, and when problems occur within such an important relationship, the emotional, mental, physical and for many, spiritual distress experienced can become unbearable and isolating.

Whether you are in a new relationship, an established relationship, or perhaps your relationship is coming to an end, counselling can be very beneficial and supportive.  By coming to see me, I will give you both the space to be able to explore your relationship.  As your counsellor I am in the unique position of having no preconceived ideas of who you are as a couple, or how you should or should not be handling your relationship.  What I will offer you both is a non-judgemental and safe space, where  I will work with you both to find within yourselves the changes and resolutions you want for your relationship.

Counselling for You Online (Individual Only)

There may be many reasons why you are thinking about therapy online.  Difficulties with mobility, travelling or the pressures of work and family life can make it difficult to be able to commit to face to face counselling.   This is where online counselling with myself can make it convenient and accessible for you to access counselling, but without perhaps leaving the comfort of your home.

Further information

Ready to take that first step?  Lets do it together.

If you are looking for individual or couples counselling face to face, please email me with a time convenient to you, and I will call you back and we can have a chat about what is going on for you and what you would like from your counselling.  Or give me a ring and again, we will have a chat about what it you would like from your counselling.

I can offer you day or evening appointments. Take that first step and call or email me now for a no obligation consultation.  You are worth it.

During our first session, we will together look at what I can offer you as a counsellor, and also look at in more detail what it is you are hoping to achieve from our time together.  I work in an open ended way, which means you can come to as many sessions as you feel you need.  This is something we will review together on a regular basis.

If you are thinking about online counselling again email or phone me and we can discuss what it is you are looking for.  Please see details below of how online counselling works.

What is Online Counselling?

Online counselling is therapy through your computer.  This can be through instant messaging, email or video.

You may have noticed that I did not refer to the video or instant messaging as Skype.  This is because I do not use Skype for either.  The reason being that although Skype is encrypted, it is not secure enough for any form of confidential therapeutic engagement.  I use instead Vsee for instant messaging and webcam and Protonmail for emailing.  All of these are free, downloadable platforms.

What do I have to do?

Firstly, if you would like to contact me before making a decision as to whether or not online counselling is for you, please do.  I will be happy to help you with any questions you may have and have a chat about what it is you want.  Then when you are happy to proceed, you will need to fill out an assessment form, and send it to me.  From there I will be able to better understand what is troubling you and form an idea of the support I can offer you.

What then?

I will contact you and together we can decide what it is you want from your counselling and the platform you are most comfortable using.

How do I pay for online counselling?

Before your scheduled appointment time, I will email an invoice to you which will give you the options of paying by either paypal or credit card.  Invoices have been set up in such a way that you do not have to share your payment details.

I hope I have covered most of the information you will need to be able to make a decision to work therapeutically online.  If I haven't, please contact me and I will be very happy to give you more information.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018), which means I ensure that you the client, are my primary concern when we work together.

I ensure this by working to a professional standard which entails being clear as to what you the client can expect from our time together, and the cost and commitment this will require. By being honest at all times about our work together, and working ethically and responsibly at all times.
