Counselling for individuals, for couples and online. Counselling for you.
"People start to heal the moment they feel heard" (Cheryl Richardson.com)
I wonder as you read the above quote what this means to you?
I know from my work as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, this quote is true. The moment we are heard, truly heard, that is the moment we can start healing. The moment we can realise and believe that we do not have to be alone with our problems.
How I work as a Counsellor
I work as an integrative therapist, which means rather than staying with one model of counselling, I use a combination of models and approaches from different theories. At the core of my integration is person-centred therapy from the humanistic schools of thought.
I trained as an integrative therapist as I believe this means I can tailor your therapy to your specific needs. I am always happy to discuss my integrative approach and answer any questions you may have.
Phone or email me for a no obligation consultation where we can discuss what it is you want from your counselling.
Counselling for You (Individual)
People come to counselling for many different reasons, and your reasons for coming to see me will be personal to you. But by coming to see me, I will offer you a safe and confidential environment, where you can identify, shed light upon and deal with your reasons for coming to counselling.
Together we can explore and reflect upon what you feel needs to change in your life. Together we can look at alternative ways of managing these thoughts, feelings and emotions, leading to greater self-knowledge and understanding of relationships not just with others, but importantly with yourself. Coming to counselling will be a rewarding and life changing experience. You do not have to struggle alone, I am here to help and support you. Take that first step and call or email me. You are worth it.
Counselling for You and Your Partner (Couples)
Every relationship is unique, because you and your partner are unique, and coming to counselling will of course depend on your relationship, and the issues you and your partner are dealing with. Remember, your relationship with your partner will be one of the closest relationships you will have formed, and when problems occur within such an important relationship, the emotional, mental, physical and for many, spiritual distress experienced can become unbearable and isolating.
Whether you are in a new relationship, an established relationship, or perhaps your relationship is coming to an end, counselling can be very beneficial and supportive. By coming to see me, I will give you both the space to be able to explore your relationship. As your counsellor I am in the unique position of having no preconceived ideas of who you are as a couple, or how you should or should not be handling your relationship. What I will offer you both is a non-judgemental and safe space, where I will work with you both to find within yourselves the changes and resolutions you want for your relationship. Whether that is staying together or supporting you both to negotiate the end of your relationship, I will work with you both to explore what it is your relationship needs.
Counselling for You Online
There may be many reasons why you are thinking about entering therapy, and particularly therapy online. Difficulties with mobility, travelling or the pressures of work and family life can make it difficult to be able to commit to face to face counselling. This is where online counselling with myself can make it convenient and accessible for you to access counselling, but without perhaps leaving the comfort of your home.
What is Online Counselling?
Online counselling is therapy through your computer. This can be through instant messaging, email or video.
You may have noticed that I did not refer to the video or instant messaging as Skype. This is because I do not use Skype for either. The reason being that although Skype is encrypted, it is not secure enough for any form of confidential therapeutic engagement. I use instead Vsee for instant messaging, Zoom for video and Protonmail for emailing. All of these are free, downloadable platforms and are more secure platforms than Skype.
What do I have to do?
Firstly, if you would like to contact me before making a decision as to whether or not online counselling is for you, please do. I will be happy to help you with any questions you may have and have a chat about what it is you want. Then when you are happy to proceed, you will need to fill out an assessment form, and send it to me. From there I will be able to better understand what is troubling you and form an idea of the support I can offer you.
I will contact you and together we can decide what it is you want from your counselling and the platform you are most comfortable using.
How do I pay for online counselling?
48 hours before your scheduled appointment time, I will email an invoice to you which will give you the options of paying by either paypal or credit card. Invoices have been set up in such a way that you do not have to share your payment details.
I hope I have covered most of the information you will need to be able to make a decision to work therapeutically online. If I haven't, please contact me and I will be very happy to give you more information.
