About me

Currently offering all usual counselling sessions via Skype due to the "Virus".

I am also running low cost support groups for those wishing to have space to air how they are feeling, to connect and feel supported during this difficult time. Groups of up to 4 people.

Face to face sessions (not currently available)

I am a fully qualified counsellor in both Integrative and Person Centred counselling based in Callington, Cornwall.

I believe that you are your own expert and therefore I will not be telling you what to do. We will both have an equal part to play within our therapeutic relationship. My core approach is Person Centred.

I am there to be alongside you while you explore yourself, not judging but instead sharing empathic understanding. Helping you to understand yourself through acceptance and creativity.

I also teach others to become counsellors.

I offer 1:1 counselling and clinical supervision.

Please let me know your availability when getting in touch - this helps with establishing a mutually convenient day/time - thank you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 12 years of experience as a qualified counsellor and currently work in private practice.

I have formally working in an NHS setting providing counselling to clients aged 16 to 100 years old in GP surgeries.

I also teach on CPCAB Counselling courses.

I have experience of counselling in a school and college setting providing counselling to children and young adults aged between 12 and 25 years old.

I am a former member of the Cornwall NHS team which delivers ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) workshops across Cornwall.

I currently offer Supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors. I would also like to offer group supervision - please get in touch if you would be interested in this.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
