About me

Do you often feel "not good enough"? Are you a people pleaser? Do you often worry about what others think of you? Of saying or doing the wrong thing? Do you believe that you are not worthy, that you are unlovable? Does your worrying or overthinking stop you from going out, stop you from sleeping? Are you stuck in a trauma from the past or do you find yourself repeating the same behaviour or blaming yourself? Often our core beliefs are learnt from our past. We have learnt behaviours that helped protect us at the time but are not needed now. These can be unlearnt, the wounded child can be healed. I can help you learn that you are enough and start to accept and even love yourself.

I see counselling as a journey of discovery that we take together. The relationship is at the core of this.

"What we run from pursues us and what we face transforms us" (D. Kessler)

If you feel that you would like to discuss taking that journey of discovery with me please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can set up an initial conversation to find out if we are the right fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced counsellor having completed diplomas in integrative counselling, working with young people, working with suicide and self-harm and working with eating disorders. I have also completed research projects in working with grief and loss and working with the inner child.

I have worked in schools for over 30 years, most recently as a school counsellor at a local grammar school. I have also worked with a bereavement charity and a charity that supports children who have experienced abuse.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
