About me

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, am an Accredited member of the BACP, and have worked for over ten years.

I offer a quiet and comfortable experience in a designated room in my home where you will have the opportunity to explore your own emotions and self-knowledge, feeling safe and contained, and perhaps evolve new strategies for dealing with problems.

As a Person-Centred counsellor, I will work with you to look back to past relationships and experiences to help understand your present feelings, and to sort your thoughts. I will be there to support and to search, but I know that you are the one in charge of both the session and your own life, and you will, after thought and exploration, understand what is best for yourself. I also use CBT theory in my approach.

I offer a flexible, friendly and supportive service which is both confidential and non-judgemental. I value face to face sessions most, but also offer online or telephone counselling if that seems more convenient.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have had extensive experience working with adolescents and young people, as I worked for 4 years at "Off The Record", a youth agency in Croydon. I also worked for more than 10 years as a Student Counsellor and Safeguarding Officer in a College of Further Education.

I worked as a low cost Counsellor in a Medical Centre for 18 months, and have been with "Cruse Bereavement Care" for many years, becoming part of their assessment team, and working closely with those experiencing loss of all sorts.

In all those situations I have encountered many different complications, such as stress, anxiety, sexuality, childhood issues abuse and many others. The ongoing affects of a prolonged Lockdown, stress, anxiety and depression, are in some ways still with many of us.

My background is in Theatre Design, where I gained my BA (Hons) 2i Degree. I began training as a Person-Centred Counsellor in 2006, earning a Foundation Degree and Diploma in Counselling at a BACP-approved college in 2008. I have also attended 2 courses with Cruse Bereavement Care in 2007 & 8, and a course in Art Therapy in 2007. I have attendede a course in CBT which I use in addition to my Person-Centred model.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
