Hello, I offer a half price first meeting and many ways to cope with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low confidence, trauma, anger, self harm, relationships and mental health difficulties.
“More positive. Less anxious. Less depressed.” D (age 17)
I think it’s a brave step to come to see someone and I can understand if you feel nervous about talking about difficult issues. As an Integrative Counsellor I can provide more options than just talking; I have lots of bits and bobs in my room that we could use and plenty of space to move about or have a safe ‘vent’.
"It has helped with me not getting angry." F (age 11)
If you wish we could use creative approaches such as art, stones, bubbles and a sand tray; or we could work with the unconscious, including inner child work, drama and the bodymind connection. Having different ways of working means that you are free to say as much (or as little) as you wish, it’s your choice. I also believe that, even if we are dealing with really tough stuff, counselling does not always have to be serious and a shared laugh can often help the process along.
“It was the first time I felt really understood, and you helped me get to the actual root of my problems.” T (age 40)
Whatever your age or issue I’m confident that I have something to offer… I’ve worked with young people (from age 8+) in schools and NHS CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) to adult clients in their 60’s at Mind (the mental health charity). I have led groups in schools and at Mind teaching tips and strategies to make life better including Building Confidence, Assertiveness, Mindfulness, Healthy Relationships, Bereavement and Anger Management.
It is important to feel safe and comfortable with your counsellor and I believe that the first session is a chance to see if we would work well together. I have a private conservatory for us to use, with comfy sofas, that provides a quiet space where you can share your concerns without fear of being interrupted. I also have a cat called Lola who might sometimes join us (I can easily shut her out if you prefer).
“I left our first session feeling so comforted and safe; I just knew that everything would be OK.” J (age 54)
What is Counselling?
Counselling inspires change in and around us.
Feeling heard, and supported, by someone who has your best interests at heart, increases self confidence and makes it easier to make decisions. As you become your real self you will act differently and people around you will respond differently.
"A lot of my friends and family have noticed how much more confident I am now – THANK YOU!" N (age 18)
A bit about my background:-
Like many people I have done a variety of things during my life and hope to bring a wealth of experience to make our sessions interesting and, hopefully, have a bit of fun along the way.
I started working in marketing in London and then moved south for family. I have been in many admin jobs and worked as a carer before retraining and going to work for Mind as a counsellor. At Mind I heard about living with mental health difficulties and worked with people to find ways to make their lives easier. I created and ran courses to manage anxiety, depression and anger as well as leading a weekly mindfulness group.
I have run many training courses on managing stress and maintaining good mental health for local colleges, Police, Ambulance and Fire services.
I was a counsellor for young people at Off The Record in Havant for 5 years and have worked with groups in schools teaching tools to cope with bereavement, anger, anxiety and low self confidence.
"You’re the one who pushed that sad little insecure girl and brought out the girl who has sunshine and rainbows coming out of her ass. Thank you for everything, means so much.” C (age 15)
Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will be happy to help in any way.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Quotes from clients...
"I've seen a number of counsellors over the years and they only really scratched the surface. Going to Sarah was the best decision I have made. Thank you for listening to me. It was the first time I felt really understood, and you helped me get to the actual root of my problems. With the tools and techniques you have shown me I feel a transformed person compared to the first day I saw you. I wish I had met you years ago." T (age 40)
"A HUGE thank you for everything you have taught me. It has really made a great difference to me. A lot of my friends and family have noticed how much more confident I am now - THANK YOU! I will miss our chats lots :-(" N (age 18)
”It has helped with me not getting angry.” F (age 11)
"I’d had therapy on and off over the years but it had never quite got to the heart of things. Then a significant life crisis brought me to my knees – and to Sarah. I left our first session feeling so comforted and safe; I just knew that everything would be OK and I cried like I’d never cried before, healing tears that released deeply buried pockets of pain and grief I’d carried around for over 50 years. There has been much merriment in our therapy sessions too, as Sarah encourages me to experiment with different ways of responding to dissociation and other uncomfortable feelings. Our sessions are always dynamic and uplifting – and leave me feeling far better than when I went in. If you’re reading this testimonial, you have my congratulations! You’ve found a wonderful therapist – the best in my view." J (age 56)
