About me

The Counselling Experience:

Counselling is not just for people who have mental health issues, it is for anyone who feels stuck, may be struggling or is going through a tough time which they are finding difficult to sort out on their own. Counselling is not about telling you what to do or giving you advice, I will listen to you without judging or criticising and I will respect your views and experiences. I will support you to explore your own thoughts and feelings in order to find a path through the difficulties you may be having.

How counselling can help:

Every person is different and has different experience, so it is important that I understand your needs and can respond in the best ways to help you achieve your goals. I will support you to explore your own experiences without judging or telling you what to do. Counselling will support you to reflect upon your own understanding and experiences whilst building resilience to manage the issues you have been facing. I have supported clients with a range of difficulties and in particular those with relationship difficulties, gambling addiction, specific traumatic events, loss, bereavement and people who are struggling to understand feelings of uneasiness, not ‘fitting in’ and feeling lost in regards to how they are experiencing the world around them.

What to expect in your first session:

The setting is situated a private and confidential rural area and I offer a free 30 minute consultation which enables you to visit both myself and counselling room to make sure you feel comfortable in the first instant. We will spend some time discussing the counselling process and will perhaps move on to looking at some of the issues which you wish to bring. If you are comfortable with the me and also the process we can then make arrangements for further sessions.

Follow on sessions last an hour and provide a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore any challenging issues, it is an hour to focus upon your own needs without the thoughts, advice or judgements of others.

I can offer home visits, however the price will vary depending of travel times etc.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor and registered with the BACP (British Association For Counselling and Psychotherapy).

My registration with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) requires me to follow their code of ethics and I undertake continued professional development to ensure I maintain up to date knowledge and skills and I am supervised to ensure safe practice for both my clients and myself.

I have been involved in social care for over 20 years and I am involved with a therapeutic community which allows me to have an up to date understanding of current mental health risk factors and issues. I have worked within both the private and voluntary sector.

I currently work in private practice offering one-to-one therapy to adults who come to me directly and I will accept referrals from Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) or from medical practitioners.
