About me

Hi, welcome to my profile.  I hope the information below will help you understand how my work could support your child with their current difficulties, helping them get to a better place.

I am a professionally registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor specialising in creative and play-based therapy.

How I work

Often, children can struggle to explain what is troubling them in a way that can help them to resolve their difficulties.  Creative & play-based therapy provides a specialised therapeutic environment that will give your child the opportunity to use play & creativity as their way to communicate and work through their feelings and troubles, in much the same way an adult might use talk to figure their difficulties out.  Your child will find a variety of arts and creative materials to use in their sessions with me.

Of course, if your child would rather just talk instead – that’s OK too!   During each session with your child it is my job to understand their current suffering as much as possible whilst providing them with the optimal therapeutic conditions for their positive growth.

A little bit about me

For many years, I have been drawn to work that can somehow help alleviate the suffering of youngsters, feeling a deep recognition of, and empathy for, any distress they may be experiencing.  Having initially worked as a teacher and special educational needs teacher I moved into training as a child and adolescent psychotherapeutic counsellor, latterly working as a school counsellor across schools in Essex and Cambridgeshire.  Now based in North Yorkshire, following a relocation to be back closer to family, I want to continue my commitment to making younger lives better.

Over the past fifteen years I have provided support for wide-ranging difficulties, such as: Autistic Spectrum Disorder; general anxiety; depression; suicidal thoughts; parental divorce; separation anxiety; anger management; bereavement & loss; parental ill health; social anxiety/school refusal; sexual & domestic abuse and identity uncertainties.

Contact me

This is not an exhaustive list; so, whatever troubles your child seems to be struggling with (no matter how small or large), do not hesitate to contact me for an informal, confidential discussion or to arrange an initial appointment. You can reach me on 07565 011450 or at
