I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over 25 years' experience working with a wide range of people and their difficulties.
At times most of us experience some form of distress or painful feelings. You may be anxious, depressed or feeling confused about your relationships or work. You may not be where you thought you would be at this point in your life. You may be facing painful experiences through illness, bereavement or family breakdown. Or you may not know why you are feeling as you do and feel lost and want to understand what is happening to you and why.
Psychotherapy offers a consistent space for you to talk freely and in confidence about your concerns and is an opportunity to begin to understand what underlies your current difficulties. Talking these issues through with a therapist can help to bring some clarification to the feelings you are struggling with. Although this process can be challenging at times, it can also be rewarding and enable you to move on and make new choices.
Training, qualifications & experience
I initially trained as a counsellor at Westminster Pastoral Foundation in the late 80's while working as a Bereavement Counsellor for Wandsworth Bereavement Service. I then went on to train as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the Arbours Association. On completion I gained a post as a Psychotherapist in the NHS working in a hospital outpatients department in Surrey where I worked for 15 years. Alongside this I always maintained a private practice, which I continue today, and have a consulting room in Seven Dials, Brighton.
As part of my commitment to professional development I regularly attend CPD workshops and conferences. I have also completed further training with the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and trained in Mentalization-based Treatment (MBT) for people with Borderline Personality Disorder at the Anna Freud Centre.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

When you contact me we can arrange a time to meet for an initial consultation to learn more about you and your concerns and see if psychotherapy can help. This session can last up to one and a half hours and the fee is £60.
If you decide to start weekly therapy the sessions are 50 minutes long. My fees range between £40-60 per session, depending upon your circumstances.
