About me
At Garden Room Counselling I can offer you a non judgemental space allowing you the time to talk in confidence and be heard.
I offer face to face, online and walk and talk sessions
Acknowledging the need to reach out is the first and hardest step. You may be struggling with unravelling difficult emotions, low self-esteem, stress or trauma. We can work together to enable you to understand different aspects of yourself, life events, relationships and other influences that are affecting you. If you choose to book with me we will have an initial session where you can get a feel for how I work, what I can offer you and how we fit.
I practice within the Humanistic approach which emphasises looking at the whole person and the uniqueness or each individual. It works from the assumption that people are free and are motivated to achieve their potential.
Integrative Counselling, unlike other approaches, allows me to draw on different techniques as I feel they are needed. The aim is to improve the effectiveness of the therapy and adapt it to your specific needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP
I work for a gender charity (The Intercom Trust) and offer counselling to the LGBTQ community.
I am a qualified adult and children’s nurse and have 12 years of experience as a school/college nurse.
Alongside my work as a counsellor,r I also work part-time as a college nurse. This role keeps me up to date on issues experienced by teenagers and young adults .
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
