About me

UKCP psychotherapist and supervisor with over 30 years experience, offering both brief and long term work for individuals and couples. Trained in Brainspotting which is a treatment specifically aimed at trauma. For further information please visit the website BSP.uk. Also specialise in treatment of Eating Disorders.

I aim to bring a warm, empathic but clear thinking approach to the work thereby helping you to gain deeper insights and resolve difficult situations relating to both present and past events. Talking to a trained psychotherapist in a safe, confidential setting is a way of understanding your life and through this starting to take responsibility for making different choices. Difficulties I frequently deal with include anxiety, stress and panic attacks, depression including generalised anxiety disorder, post natal depression and bereavement. This can include a programme of learning mindfulness relaxation techniques if this is an appropriate treatment. I work with couples to help make a more meaningful relationship, looking at issues and feelings that may be holding them back. I also work with controlled separation and divorce and the impact this can have on the children.

My core training has been in Psychodynamic psychotherapy however my work draws on the strengths of many disciplines including Psychoanalytic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution Focused and Trauma/Critical Incident therapy.  This enables me to bring an integrative approach to suit the individual needs. Most of my training was completed with Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF). I am a licensed Practitioner in Understanding Your Eating, for people struggling to overcome disordered eating. This programme can be delivered individually or as a group.I have also undertaken the National Centre for Eating Disorders Master Practitioners training.

My current work is divided between my private practice established in 1998 and working as a Health and Wellbeing Therapist for BUPA, CIGNA as well as a variety of Employee Assistance Programmes including Critical Incident Response.

I am a trained supervisor and am able to offer supervision on a regular basis to practitioners who are trainees or qualified counsellors/psychotherapists.
