About me

I am an experienced integrative counsellor combining a person-centred approach with cognitive behavioural therapy tools.

I offer a safe, calm space to be listened to and heard, so that healing can take place.

I offer short or long term counselling with persons over 18 years old, where the emphasis is on valuing the relationship in counselling.

I have worked for many years in Health and Children's Centre settings and have a particular interest in early parenting matters and personal identity issues.

I also offer counselling for a wide range of life challenging issues which require support through the  adjustment process;  such as bereavement & loss (including pet bereavement), illness, family & relationship issues, low self-esteem, abuse in childhood, living with the effects of addiction, and other personal issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor: BA(Hons) DipCoun CQSW MBACP(Accred) bringing over 20 years experience in working as a social worker in a hospital context and then as a counsellor working with parents in children's centres in Bristol for 13 years.

Supervision

I have recently qualified in relational supervision( Advanced Diploma) recognised by the National Counselling Society. I offer supervison to counsellors and other practitioners working in the caring professions, where emotional impact from the nature of the  work, can cause stress and potential for 'burn-out'. My supervision has an emphasis on being restorative and nurturing so that practitioners may feel valued personally and professionally whilst delivering counselling with emotional empathy in complex work and contexts. We work together to adopt a creative and individual approach to meet your own needs. Please contact me to discuss your needs before commiting to us working together.

I have a particular interest in early parenting issues and perinatal health and how individuals adjust to life changing events.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
