About me

I am a highly experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor and trauma-informed therapist with a warm approach. I provide a safe, regular space in which to explore and reflect on your problems and will listen to you in a non-judgemental way. I aim to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings so you gain greater self-awareness, see different perspectives and find the way to inner peace and a stronger sense of self.  Additionally, I can help you to process trauma or emotional distress which can help you heal from past wounds.

I have extensive experience at working with issues such as:

  • trauma or abuse
  • relationship difficulties
  • anxiety or panic attacks
  • feeling depressed or low
  • illness or bereavement
  • low self-esteem or unassertiveness
  • addiction, eating disorders or self-harm
  • cultural and religious difficulties or issues at work

Sometimes how you feel cannot be easily defined but you know that things feel wrong or that you are unhappy. You may be feeling overwhelmed, confused, angry, isolated or distressed. I can help you process all these complex feelings.

Sometimes it feels daunting to make the step towards seeking help and I recognise this. If you are unsure, please feel free to call or email me.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Masters degree and Post-graduate Diploma in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling fromthe University of Hertfordshire. This was an intensive 4 and a half year theoretical and experiential training.
  • Certification in Brainspotting therapy. This innovative therapy uses aspects of mindfulness and body-based therapy to help process traumatic experiences or difficult emotions.
  • Polyvagal theory and working with parts in an IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed way. These are integrated into my practice.
  • BA (Hons) degree from the University of Leeds.
  • I have used my expertise to write and deliver workshops on Transference and Countertransference for trainee and qualified therapists.
  • I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that my practice meets a high level of competence. As such, I continue to develop my expertise through ongoing professional development.

At my private practice, I provide long-term, ongoing and short-term therapy for individuals to men and women of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Previously, I have provided therapy in a charitable Counselling service in North London and to new, vulnerable and distressed mothers at a Counselling service in Hertfordshire.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
