About me

Hello my name is Sara, I offer therapy face to face, Zoom or over the telephone. I know that making the first step in asking for help can often be the hardest and I want you to know that I provide a safe and caring space to gain the help you need.

I wish to show people such as yourself that there is an affordable way to get help through counselling (in whichever form feels most comfortable for you) that you are not alone in your struggles, that talking therapy either in person, over the phone or via video call can help you to make small changes that can have a positive impact on your life.

I have been working in the counselling field for 11 years now, for various settings including the NHS, private healthcare and community charities. For the last 7 years I have run a bespoke private practice. Which has recently grown into Springfield therapy practice. My aim is to provide a counselling service that promotes a warm loving environment by which clients can find themselves and the joy of life again.  I work with a wide range of issues including:

  • Depression (Including Low mood)
  • Anxiety (Including Generalised Anxiety disorder)
  • Stress.
  • Addiction
  • Trauma

I feel that counselling in today’s world is more important than ever. High levels of Anxiety due to the trauma of COVID-19 pandemic,  high levels of stress due to the instability of work and home environments as well as pre-existing mental health difficulties are having an impact on many people.

With these factors more people are feeling the impact of low mood, anxiety and stress. The current strain on the NHS means often people can not get the support they need when they are asking for it. Private therapy is able to provide that support you or your loved one is looking for now.

Specialising in Addiction Counselling I am very aware that private therapy can also support those who are using coping strategies to try and deal with these pressures of life. Counselling can also support those who may be in recovery but are feeling that they have other things they wish to understand about themselves to support their ongoing journey.  I have worked with those who use various substances and processes to cope with everyday life including:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Sex and pornography

I have worked with those struggling with addiction for 11 years now in various settings; in a Residential Rehab, For a community project, With a homeless charity and with family members. Most recently I have worked for the NHS supporting Young people who have been affected by addiction as well as having their own mental health concerns.

I have worked with a number of age groups and am currently working with people aged 16 and above to support them in gaining the help they need either from addiction or other mental health concerns. The counselling session belongs to you and as your counsellor, I will provide a safe and caring space to help you work through the difficulties you are having today.

I am also a qualified clinical supervisor working with both private counsellors and agencies, either on a 1-2-1 or group basis to provide a quantity and quality of supervision to meet the needs of the practitioner and/or company.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 5 Diploma in Clinical Supervision.
  • Master’s degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling.
  • Undergraduate in Psychology.
  • Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
  • Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Accredited Member.

It is extremely important as a therapist that I look at myself and keep my own mental health well. Practising what I preach is a value I live by on a daily basis, In the past I have been involved in my own therapy both on a one-to-one basis and in a group so I know what it can feel like to be where you are. I am also committed to maintaining professional standards, having regular Supervision and routinely pursue professional development in a number of areas.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
