About me

Hello :) my name is Sara Demelas and my pronouns are She/Her. I am an Italian Clinical psychologist, and I am a genuine, compassionate and empathetic Relational Transactional Analyst qualified Counsellor, with a progressive 12-years journey in fostering growth and wellbeing in various mental health settings, with people of all ages and from different backgrounds. I offer therapy in English, Italian and Spanish allowing us to work in the language you feel most comfortable with. Whether you prefer to express yourself in your native tongue or explore emotions in a second language, I ensure a supportive and culturally sensitive space for your therapeutic journey.

There are moments in life when you may find yourself feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck. When the pain becomes so intense that even the simplest act of breathing feels overwhelming, you face a choice. You can either endure suffering, or you can confront it head-on. In such critical times, I can help you navigate through your thoughts and emotions, providing support and tools to guide you on a path toward healing. You have the power to take back control of your life and find your way forward. Though change can be challenging, it’s also a vital step in starting anew. Embrace this journey, you deserve a brighter tomorrow.

My approach is deeply integrative, embracing the rich tapestry of emotions, thoughts, behaviours and psychological experiences within each individual. In our session, I value the complexity of our human connections, which includes understanding the social and transpersonal aspects that shape our lives. By incorporating insights from Object Relational theories, the Psychoanalytical Self, Gestalt therapy, Behavioural and Cognitive therapy, and Transactional Analysis, I aim to create a holistic framework that nurtures the wholeness of each person.

In my work with clients, my commitment is to provide a space filled with genuine acceptance, warmth, and empathic understanding. I believe in the power of a supportive, empathetic relationship that responds to the here-and-now, helping clients feel truly seen and heard. My role is to help raise awareness, inviting reflection on both emotional and cognitive levels. Together, we will explore the importance of your relationships—with yourself, with others, and the interconnectedness we experience in our lives. It’s paramount that you feel heard and valued in every session, and I will always be attentive to your unique social and psychological context. My hope is for us to collaborate in discovering new, authentic meanings in your life. The therapeutic relationship we build will be a key aspect of this journey, with a strong focus on establishing and maintaining a resilient working alliance. We will work together to define goals, direction, and desired outcomes, ensuring we are aligned every step of the way.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Transactional Analysis Counsellor with an Intersectional lens.

I am registered as an Italian Clinical Psychologist (Registration number: Albo A, Sardinia 4021).

I am Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist contractor UKCP.

I am eager to bring my expertise and dedication and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of people in need of counselling support. In my professional journey, I choose to focus on the deeper motivations that led me to this field. I have a profound interest and genuine love for people.

I work with clients who may be struggling depression or trauma stemming from their relationships or family dynamics. In our initial sessions, we will thoroughly explore the issues at hand and collaboratively establish a targeted plan that empowers you to reclaim your life. Most of my clients experience a significant reduction in symptoms within the first month, followed by sustained improvements.

In our work together, I will be using a compassionate approach to help you navigate your thoughts, emotions and behaviour patterns. Here’s how our sessions can support you:

  1. Understanding Ego States We’ll gently explore the three main ego states (Parent, Adult, and Child) that shape your experiences. Together, you’ll learn to recognize when you’re operating from each state, empowering you to make more conscious and balanced choices in your life.
  2. Analysing Communication Patterns We will look at how you communicate with others, recognising both the positive, healthy interactions and the challenging ones that may lead to misunderstandings. This awareness can help improve your relationships and foster deeper connections.
  3. Uncovering Life Scripts and Drivers Together, we’ll delve into the unconscious life scripts that you may have formed in childhood, which could be influencing your current choices and behaviours. With kindness and support, we’ll work to challenge old beliefs and replace them with healthier, more empowering narratives.
  4. Identifying and Breaking Negative Games, we identify repetitive, often unconscious "games" that can emerge in relationships. You’ll gain insight into any negative patterns that may be holding you back, and we’ll work together to free you from these cycles.
  5. Encouraging Autonomy and Growth Throughout this journey, I will be here to nurture your awareness, spontaneity, and intimacy—key components of personal autonomy and emotional well-being. You’ll be encouraged to express yourself authentically and build healthier, more meaningful relationships. This journey is truly collaborative, and I’m committed to supporting you every step of the way. Together, we’ll seek deeper understanding of your behaviours, improve your communication, and create lasting change. My hope is to empower you to lead a more authentic and fulfilling life, free from the limitations of past patterns. I genuinely look forward to working with you and supporting you through this transformative process.

and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
