About me
Have you experienced a loss or bereavement and struggling to find your way through all the emotions that keep knocking you down? It may have been a huge career change, the end of a friendship group, way of life or the death of someone important to you that has led you to this place. You may have had a different experience that has left you grieving.
Whatever got you here, there is a way through it and by working together it is possible for you to express your grief safely and find what you need to help you move forwards.
You may hear people talking about ‘moving on’ or ‘getting over’ what has happened. I will help you to move forwards from your grief, to acknowledge, process and understand what you have been through and make steps to getting to a place you want to be, taking that experience with you as a part of who you are now.
Counselling with me provides you with someone to work this through with who is completely separated from your life and can offer alternative perspectives on what is happening, whilst understanding how it is for you.
Person Centred Counselling is a way of working where I will not plan each session, or give you tasks to complete. It is an organic process where we discuss what is important to you and acknowledge what you may not quite be ready to face head on just yet, but work together to help you become more comfortable with facing what feels really difficult.

Member organisations

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I offer reduced rates for those who are unemployed or on a low income, are students and trainee counsellors. If you would like to explore having counselling with me but finances may be a barrier for you, please let me know that you would like to discuss a reduced rate.
