About me
Attending therapy can be like finding the pieces of a puzzle you didn't know were missing.
I trained in transactional analysis psychotherapy; this type of therapy helps people observe how the past has influenced the present, and it is a highly recognised form of talking therapy by the medical community, such as the NHS. Psychotherapy provides a wealth of support and insight, helping individuals, couples, and groups understand their way of being.
I identify as a neurodiverse therapist, and I have an interest in supporting others who are also neurodivergent and neurodiverse with dyslexia, Autism and ADHD to help others learn better-coping strategies.
Negative self-talk is possibly one of the leading causes of low self-esteem and self-worth in neurodiversity and neurodivergence, yet with support, that can become your friend.
Supervision
I provide supervision for therapists in the modality of Transactional Analysis. Supervision is the most valuable and compassionate way to fine-tune the therapeutic style of helping others

Additionally, I have trained as a Holistic Reiki practitioner/ master/Teacher and provide an online course to purchase for better health and well-being

I also provide meditations on Spotify: https://anchor.fm/sandra-williams1
Here are a few things that I can help with
Communication: I help clients understand their communication style, reactivity, anger and triggers.
Relationships: Understanding communication styles can make relationships more manageable. I help individuals and couples understand each other, which is the grounding for a healthy relationship to flourish.
ADHD coping strategies: People often forget their coping strategies or feel overwhelmed by advice. There is a lot of advice on social media, and knowing what's right can be confusing. Therapy can help people find their way.
Greif, When someone passes away, it can be hard to know how to grieve, anticipated grief, such as stages of cancer, prepare for the end and learn how to have essential conversations.
Child loss, the loss of a child to miscarriage, or early infant death, SIDS I am in training to provide rainbow counselling; therapy offers a confidential environment, and you are no longer alone.
How therapy is delivered
Face-to-face in-person therapy provides a confidential environment in the Burnley area.
Online therapy is via Zoom.
Phone therapy is via phone, Skype, or WhatsApp.
Email therapy is conducted via a secure account to allow for confidentiality and has a similar presence to other therapies. The email requires information of no more than 500 words, allowing for a concise reply within the time limit.
Attending weekly or fortnightly allows you to gain the most from your sessions.
Experience.
University training in Contemporary approaches within Cognitive Behavioural Therapy allows for a more integral approach alongside psychotherapy.
CBT works well with anxiety or depression by encouraging clients to focus on the here and now. CBT works well with short-term solution-focused therapy.
Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) works well with low self-esteem. It brings compassion into life and is a gentle approach to problems. It allows a better understanding of the self, which can help one accept choices and behaviour judgmentally. Being kind to yourself can have a profound impact on well-being.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) works well with recovery and helps accept the human being with flaws and failures instead of trying to be the person others want you to be.
ACT Therapy also supports individuality and inclusivity by encouraging the authentic self. ACT helps you accept your unique identity, gain confidence and courage, and be comfortable with yourself.
The person-centred approach puts you, the client, at the heart of the therapy.
Mindfulness, incorporating a mindful approach, can help relieve symptoms of obsessive thoughts, overthinking, and anxiety, improve work focus, and reduce stress when used as part of a specific programme, including journaling.
I have completed further training in mindfulness, and with kind permission from the tutors at Monash University, I provide meditation on my website.

Addictions Symposium (BACP) Observing how conventional and unconventional approaches have brought new light to the world of addictions around the world.
Family coaching emerging futures Coaching family members to choose and maintain goals. After a person with an addiction has selected to be in recovery and supports a different, healthier lifestyle, it's easy for the focus to still be on them; this helps family members choose another direction and a more beneficial way forward.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
