I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited CBT Therapist. My passion and enthusiasm for delivering CBT comes from my complete belief in the approach and its effectiveness; it just makes sense to me! I think it is essential to believe in what you are offering when working with people. Everyone can benefit from CBT in some shape or form and the strategies and techniques that I use with my clients I use in my own day to day life too; we all feel a bit stressed, down or anxious about things from time to time!
I specialise in helping people experiencing depression (including post-natal depression) and anxiety disorders; specifically, panic disorder, specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder. My clinical work has also focused regularly in helping people who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or experiencing insomnia.
I find it hugely rewarding to help someone understand what is going on for my clients and to be able to see the change in that person over the course of the sessions. Being collaborative is really important in CBT and I really enjoy the feeling of teamwork during therapy as we really try to 'figure out' what is going on and find solutions
Overcoming mental health difficulties is not like healing a broken bone; everyone is different and so I will take the time to make sense of what is going on for you and tailor the treatment to your individual needs. I will never push you to go at a faster pace than you feel comfortable with and will check in with you as we go along to make sure you are finding the sessions helpful. I recognise that you are the expert in your life and I will provide you with an empathic, supportive environment to facilitate change using evidence-based treatments. I firmly believe that a key element of therapy is instilling hope and as your therapist I will ensure you are listened to, understood and that we set clear goals to work towards to keep us both on the same page.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 10 years of experience working in mental health in various settings within the NHS and mental health charities; with the past 5 years specifically working in CBT. Within these roles I deliver evidence-based therapeutic approaches on a one-to-one basis as well as delivering group therapy to help people overcome their mental health difficulties. I have worked with people from a huge variety of different backgrounds and with difficulties ranging from mild to severe.
I gained my Postgraduate Diploma in CBT from the Institute for Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London and also hold a MSc in Neuroscience (also from King's College London). I am registered with the BABCP and am bound by its code of ethics and practice and subject to its policies and procedures.

I offer a free initial telephone consultation at a time that suits you. We can then briefly discuss what is going on for you and explore further about how I can help.
The initial session will be an assessment enabling me to gather full information about your presenting difficulties. Sessions will last 60 minutes. There may be times where we need to have longer sessions depending on the nature of the session; however this will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
A 60-minute session costs £60.
What to expect?
In the first session, I will conduct a full assessment with you to gather relevant information about your current difficulties and think about what you would like to gain from therapy. I will explain more about what to expect from the sessions, how I can help, and give you the chance to think about if that is something you would like to give a go.
Sessions last for one hour and we would agree an initial number of sessions before having a review of your progress. Evidence does suggest that best progress is made if sessions are carried out regularly; however, I also recognise that finances can be tight and that everyone has other commitments in life, so obviously this is flexible and I would not expect you to plan more sessions than you think you can manage.
