About me
Hello and Welcome to my profile.
I am an experienced Counsellor (10 years) and Play Therapist working within the Brackley area and online. I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP abiding by their ethical principles and codes of practice. I find it a great honour to be with my clients and offer high levels of empathy, understanding and respect.
I have an approachable, gentle and caring nature offering a confidential, non judgemental safe space for you to explore feelings and navigate life's twists and turns. Having attended therapy myself, I know how daunting it can be to reach out for support. Some common feedback I receive is that once you meet me you feel instantly at ease and comfortable. I hope you can feel this way too.
I am an integrative counsellor meaning I will adapt my approach to suit you. We are all individuals and different approaches will suit different people. The approaches I use include person centred, creative therapy, solution focused and DBT strategies. We will often explore some coping strategies to see which ones work best for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
My most recent experience includes working as a school counsellor and self employed from my local wellbeing centre. I also work with a charity supporting young people and adults with a cancer diagnosis. Providing counselling for clients through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. I offer both face to face sessions and online.
My qualifications include Dip HE Counselling (level 5) and PG Dip Play Therapy (level 7). I also attend regular CPD training per year.
Counselling - Counselling is a talking therapy which provides a safe space for a client to explore their feelings and make positive changes to their lives. I work alongside you on your therapeutic journey providing you with a non-judgmental environment, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I can also provide DBT based coping strategies to support you
Play/Creative Arts Therapy - Play Therapy is a creative model which uses metaphor (art, music, sand tray and role play) as a way of exploring difficult feelings and life events. Play is a child’s natural way of communicating so this is the basis of our work together whilst providing a safe and encouraging environment to explore their feelings.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
