About me

Do you feel uncomfortable in your own skin, suffer from low self-esteem, panic attacks or anxiety? Perhaps you are struggling with relationships at home or at work.

We all feel overwhelmed at times and I offer a safe space for you to talk about whatever is troubling you in order to help you move past the issues. Everyone is unique and requires different things from counselling. I have been trained in various techniques and can personalise our sessions to your specific needs. I feel that I am genuine, calm, flexible and honest. I’ll allow you to be heard and accepted so that in time, you will become more accepting of yourself.

I work with bereavement and loss, relationship issues and help people with anxiety, amongst other things. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves and aim to help clients become more self-reliant. I create a warm nurturing atmosphere which can help people gain confidence by recognising their strengths and accepting their weaknesses.

If you would like to book an appointment or have questions just call or email me, whichever suits you best. I can put you at ease in making this next step and if I’m unable to help, I’ll know someone who can.

I used to volunteer as a counsellor for Mind (the mental health charity) and be a Bereavement Care volunteer for Cruse (the bereavement charity).

I am registered with the BACP, DBS checked and covered by Professional Liability Insurance. I regularly see a supervisor and adhere to the BACP code of ethics and continue to improve my professional development.

I practise from a family run chemist in Welling Kent which is in easy reach of Bexley, Eltham, Barnehurst, Sidcup, Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Greenwich, Abbey Wood and Lewisham and close to Welling BR Station.

I mainly draw on the three approaches detailed below:

The Humanistic approach concentrates on how you are feeling and allows a safe place to talk your issues through. By creating an environment that is empathic, congruent and non-judgemental, the counsellor accepts you for who you are and helps you become more accepting of yourself.

The CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) approach looks at the situation you are currently in. The counsellor would explore the negative thinking and behaviour you present, help you to recognise triggers, and learn ways break the cycle of this behaviour and thinking. This enables you to cope with everyday life in a more positive way.

The Psychodynamic approach looks at your past - how you have been brought up and/or major events in your life. It looks at the unconscious and, by talking through your issues the counsellor would help you gain an insight into yourself and thus make the unconscious, conscious.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
