Sally Stilwell PG Dip, Reg.MBACP
I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor with experience in a diverse range of issues. I have worked several years as a voluntary counsellor with a Charity which offers generic counselling for both couples and inidviduals I also worked in a GP Practice as a counsellor in a voluntary capacity. I initially started my counselling career with Cruse Bereavement Care, initially as a skilled listener then as a counsellor. I have considerable experience in Mental Health issues from my previous career as a social worker.
There are times in our lives when things can feel overwhelming, sad, frightening or confusing. Change and loss either through bereavement or long term illness, unemployment, breakdown in relationships are just a few examples of what may cause us anxiety and distress. It is those times we may feel that it would be helpful to speak to someone other than a family member or friend. Counselling may seem daunting but it takes courage to make the decision to seek help which should be seen as a strength not a weakness.
I offer a safe confidential space where you will be encouraged to explore what is causing pain, where you can gain a deeper understanding and different perspective on what is going on for you. Together we can find ways of healing in areas of your life you may wish to change. I believe the therapeutic relationship is unique and essential to facilitate this change and I offer a non-judgmental and accepting way of working at a pace appropriate to your needs.
I am a registered Member of the British of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical standards and practice
I regularly keep up with continual professional development by attending further training. I also attend monthly supervision to ensure good practice.
