About me

I am a BACP accredited and experienced counsellor and hypnotherapist, currently working as an NHS Staff Counsellor.  I have over 12  years experience of providing collaborative therapeutic relationships with individuals, couples and families in many settings including nhs staff health and wellbeing, cancer care and drug and alcohol rehab.

I am mainly offering counselling via online platforms and over the telephone.  In addition to counselling and supervision I can offer you a blend of guided meditation and mindfulness.

If you would like to arrange a pre-counselling/supervision conversation, get in touch and we can arrange that.  It is so important to find the right counsellor/supervisor for you.

Restrictions willing I am hoping to be able to return to offering creative wellbeing days/121 workshops/creative counselling and supervision.  I  am  keen artist and live on a smallholding in rural Carmarthenshire so beautiful walks and outside space are on the doorstep or alternatively i can meet you closer to your home.  Please get in touch if you would like further information.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have many years experience working with people and families facing a range of difficulties or situations that we can all get overwhelmed with at times.  Sometimes people only need one or two sessions and talking to someone who is completely separate from your everyday life can give you something objective and useful to take forward.

I have worked in a few roles in the  NHS  over 12 years, briefly as a midwife and currently as an NHS staff counsellor.  I spent 8 years working with people and families affected by a diagnosis of cancer.  I am able to use a blend of my counselling/hypnotherapy/creative approaches to work with issues around anxiety, depression, panic, bereavement and loss and relationship/family difficulties.  I have a special interest in anxiety and low mood,  health issues, grief and loss, mid-life transitions, LGBT  and infertility.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
