About me

I am a qualified counsellor with over 10 years worth of experience, offering counselling from my private practice in the Hanham and Downend area of Bristol, easily accessible from Longwell green, Cadbury heath, Kingswood, Fishponds, St George and Redfield, I have daytime and evening appointments available.

We can all go through difficult times in our life, where we can feel unhappy, confused and ill at ease with ourselves. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to help to work through any difficulties that you are experiencing.  I believe we are all unique as people, so as an Integrative Counsellor I will adjust the counselling that I offer to what ever best suits your needs.

Whether you wish to work through past or present difficulties I will offer you a supportive, empathic relationship, giving you space to understand yourself and the situation you may find yourself in. Counselling is not about offering advice, I aim to help you empower yourself, enabling you to make decisions that are right for you.

My Professional background was within the customer service sector,  I had always enjoyed working with the public and wished to build on this. I volunteered with a youth agency, helping 16-25 year olds to help build their confidence and develop life skills. This led me to counselling and my subsequent change of career. I passionately believe that by having the time to talk, express yourself and work through unwanted feelings, it will enable you to gain an improved understanding of yourself, enhancing self-confidence, therefore helping you to live a happier life.

I trained as a counsellor in 2008, and since then have gained a wide expertise in many areas, firstly including pregnancy related issues such as pre and post-natal depression, abortion, pregnancy related anxiety and baby loss. Since working in Private Practice I have gained further experience in helping people come to terms and overcome depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, trauma, and abuse. I also have personal experience of Adoption which is now teamed with professional experience working on Adoption Panels in the South West area.

Here are a few quotes from previous clients feedback:

"Sally provided an excellent support to me through a very difficult time, I am incredibly grateful, I would not be in the position I am now if it wasn't for her support".

"Thank you for your help during the hardest time in my life".

"The most positive thing was that eventually I was able to listen to my heart, Which then freed my troubled soul"

"Counselling with Sally helped me to understand my emotional and health needs with practical ways that I will definitely continue to use in my everyday life, It's a mental health check that everyone should have"

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
