Sally Godfrey BSc. Hons. Psych. TA Dip. Practice. MBPsS., MBACP.
I am an experienced Practitioner/Counsellor/Psychologist offering TA Psychotherapy, Counselling, Counselling Psychology (CBT) and Mindfulness. I am a registered Member of BACP (MBACP), UKATA and the British Psychological Society and therefore comply with all their Code of Ethics.
Working with adults, couples, families, young people and children, I can help with a range of areas including depression, anxiety, relationship issues (couple counselling), eating disorders, weight issues, step-family issues, self esteem issues, domestic abuse, suicidal ideation and suicidal feelings, sexual identity and gender issues, self harm, anger management and working with survivors of sexual abuse. I have had experience and additional training in all these areas stated though I am fully qualified in psychotherapy to work with all other mental health issues detailed. I have worked in G.P. practice, colleges, charitable counselling services and now run my own practice.
When you get in touch with me we can arrange to have a preliminary session to discuss your needs - this first meeting can be very informal or you may decide to use this session as a first session which is fine too. This session will be at a mutually convenient time, at my practice in Hadlow Down, where we would then see if we are happy to work together.
Should we decide to work together, then I would arrange with you an initial 6 sessions, though this may need to be less or more and is flexible and regularly under review. The sessions are 1 hour and generally at a regular time each week though can be flexible dependent on the needs of any individual client. I offer a safe, confidential and comfortable environment for our sessions.
Generally, after the first 6 sessions, I have a review with my clients to see how many further sessions they may need; sometimes it transpires 6 sessions has been sufficient progress for them, while other clients may feel they need to continue with therapy. How long any client has or needs therapy, is a very individual decision. I offer short, medium or long term therapy depending on the needs of my clients.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
UK Association for Transactional Analysis
UKATA (formally the Institute of Transactional Analysis) is the national UK Transactional Analysis organisation representing all fields of TA theory and practice. TA can be used as an effective tool in a wide range of contexts such as: personal development, management, coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, education, parenting and more.
