About me

I believe that the relationship we build and how we decide to work together is crucial to the success of the therapy, so it's important that you find the right person and the right approach for you.

Throughout life each person experiences different situations, events and relationships shaping and influencing how they think, feel and behave. Life has many challenges and sometimes a culmination of past experiences and our present can overwhelm, paralyse and bewilder us. At these times it can be helpful to talk to someone to reflect on how we feel, think and react to gain a greater awareness of ourselves and to see a way forward.

What I Offer
I am an integrative therapist, experienced in working with adults, adolescents and children, with training that combines the theories and techniques from a number of different models to provide a comprehensive and cohesive whole.  This means there are a variety of approaches we can consider when determining what is best for you.  These theories include Person Centred, Humanistic, CBT and Transactional Analysis (TA).

I can offer both long and short term counselling and an assortment of different ways of working, including talking, using creative, sensory or artistic mediums and structured goal setting depending on your preference.

I offer a non-judgemental and safe, confidential environment. I am non-directive, which means that you chose what to bring and we work together, exploring and reflecting, to gain a greater understanding.  This may result in acceptance or allow us to identify possible changes, if that is right for you.

I appreciate how hard it can be to take the first step and make contact, and I am happy to offer a chat on the phone, or e-mail contact to help you decide whether to come for a face to face introductory visit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Integrative counsellor and have many years experience of working in a counselling environment, initially in the youth service and then with young offenders. Progressing to working with adults, I worked in a career counselling role for a major telecommunications company before concentrating on individual therapy. Working as a counsellor for a charity 'As You Are' as well as in private practice, I have gained practical experience of working with many different presenting issues. I also currently work in primary and secondary schools in West Sussex.

Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
RSA certificate in Counselling Skills
Basic counselling in a Youth Work Setting
RSA Certificate in Group Work

Member Organisations

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
