I believe that the relationship we build and how we decide to work together is the most important element of therapy and it's crucial that you find the right person and the right approach for you.
Throughout life each person experiences different situations, events and relationships shaping and influencing how they think, feel and behave. Life has many challenges and sometimes a culmination of past experiences and our present can overwhelm, paralyse and bewilder us. At these times it can be helpful to talk to someone to reflect on how we feel, think and react to gain a greater awareness of ourselves and to see a way forward.
What I Offer
I am an integrative therapist, experienced in working with adults, adolescents and children, with training that combines the theories and techniques from a number of different models to provide a comprehensive and cohesive whole. These theoretical bases include Psychoanalysis, Humanistic and the Person Centred approach as well as CBT, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt, which means there are a variety of approaches that we can consider. I can offer both long and short term counselling and an assortment of different ways of working, including using creative and sensory mediums, depending on your preference.
As a counsellor I facilitate the therapy and work alongside you to allow us to explore together issues you may bring, but the choice of material is entirely yours as I work in a non-directive way. I believe that you have the knowledge and resources within to be able to interpret, understand and make the changes that are right for you. I offer a non-judgemental and safe, confidential environment.
I appreciate how hard it can be to take the first step and make contact, and I am happy to offer a chat on the phone, or e-mail contact to help you decide whether to come for a face to face introductory visit.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified Integrative counsellor and have many years experience of working in a counselling environment, initially in the youth service and then with young offenders. Progressing to working with adults, I worked in a career counselling role for a major telecommunications company before concentrating on individual therapy. Working as a counsellor for a charity 'As You Are' as well as in private practice, I have gained practical experience of working with many different presenting issues. I also currently work in primary and secondary schools in West Sussex.
