About me

I practice in both Tunbridge Wells & Wadhurst which are both easily accessible from;

  • Crowborough
  • Rotherfield
  • Heathfield
  • Tonbridge
  • and Paddock Wood

A qualified and experienced counsellor and supervisor, BACP accredited and EMDR trained, running a trauma informed practice.   Do you suffer from anxiety, depression or relationship issues?  Would you like to be free from the past to live a full and happy life now? Evening & day time appointments available. Free initial consultation.

I offer non-judgemental, confidential, therapeutic counselling where you can feel completely heard and supported while gently exploring what is troubling you. As well as supporting you to find the best way forward I will share techniques to calm anxiety, lift depression and calm obsessive thinking.

Alongside my general counselling practice I specialise in pregnancy, birth and early years parenting, including termination, miscarriage, birth trauma and postnatal depression. I have many years experience of supporting women around pregnancy, birth and early years parenting in an NHS setting.

I am trained in Person Centered Counselling, Transactional Analysis and EMDR and can call on various theoretical approaches depending on individual client need.

Transactional Analysis psychotherapy offers a particular framework for looking at our past and how it may be impacting on the present, helping us to understand why we think, feel and behave the way we do and, through bringing this into awareness, providing the opportunity for change.

EMDR is a comprehensive and effective psychotherapy that uses a structured approach to help process traumatic events that may be continuing to cause problems in day to day life.  One distinctive part of EMDR is utilising gentle side to side eye movements or bi-lateral tapping. This makes use of your body and mind's own natural healing processes to 'unstick'  trauma, it supports the healthy reprocessing that allows memories to be stored away as something that happened in the past, and releases the client from re-experiencing emotional or trauma reactions in the present.

I am fully supported by professional supervisors and dedicated to keeping my practice up to date through ongoing continuing professional development.

I offer a free initial consultation where we can take time to fully discuss your needs with no obligation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an accredited member of the BACP, with many years experience of working with people with a wide variety of issues and in a range of settings, including charitable organisations and the NHS, as well as private practice.

I hold a Diploma in Counselling with Transactional Analysis speciality and have additional accredited training in Bereavement Care.

I am fully trained in EMDR, supervised by an accredited EMDR Europe consultant, and am a member of EMDR Association UK.

Having also completed four years advanced psychotherapy training I am in the process of gaining UKCP accreditation.

My previous career in childcare and early years together with my recent work within the Perinatal Mental Health Service has inspired a particular interest in Postnatal Depression and Birth Trauma and working with women’s issues around pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood.

In addition to this I have wide ranging experience of working with depression, anxiety, including generalised anxiety disorder & panic attacks, and relationship issues.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
