About me

About me

In addition to being a private counsellor, I also work as a counsellor for the NHS and at a local sixth form college. I have also worked for a national children’s charity

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling which means I can tailor my approach to suit your needs. I work with adults and teens from 16 years. I am also a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) which means that I follow a strict code of ethics and work work in a safe way. My qualifications include:

  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (Iron Mill College)
  • TA 101 - an introduction to Transactional Analysis (Iron Mill College)
  • BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies
  • Registered General Nurse (Rtd)

How I can help you

I will really listen to you, with compassion and in a non-judgmental way and will help you explore your issues and gain a deeper insight and understanding of them. I will provide you with the space needed if you feel overwhelmed, confused or low. I aim to work with you to develop better self awareness, increase your self esteem, help you to feel less stuck and find a clearer path moving forward.

How I work

I believe that our working relationship should be based on honesty and respect and consist of a true partnership so that you have as much control of our work as I do. It is important that we both feel able to work with each other and that the “fit” is right. To that end, when you first contact me we will have a brief conversation so that you can gain a sense of who I am. If you think I can help, we’ll arrange a time to meet. Our first session will be on the whole, non therapeutic; I will find out a bit more about you, explore what brought you to counselling and we will then agree how we should work together. From then on our sessions will be therapeutic and last for 50 minutes. I offer short term counselling of 6-8 weeks, or more longer term depending on your needs.
