I help people who suffer from depression, anxiety, childhood issues, bereavement, abuse, trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anger issues, eating disorders, mid life crisis, existential issues and more.
I have been involved in the counselling field since 1997. Through my work I have recognised the importance of grounding the human spirit so that we may be present and anchored in the body and therefore more present in our personal and professional relationships. This led me to train in Psychosynthesis at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, London. I have also trained and practiced Mindfulness meditation for more than seventeen years and continue to do so, and I teach Mindfulness to clients who wish to learn. I have a keen interest in the mind/body connection.
Psychosynthesis is a psychology of Love and Will. Will is defined as our innate impulse to experience wholeness. Wholeness can be defined in may ways, such as the feeling of well being, feeling connected to others and with the world, and a love of life. Psychosynthesis works with issues of the past that are still impacting on the present not just for their own sake, but for the sake of uncovering our deeper potential. What is it that you find truly meaningful, purposeful? What do you most value and how might this take form in the world?
I provide a safe space in which you may explore whatever is pressing for you; so that you can just be as you are without needing to be anything in particular for anyone. In this way talking to a trained professional therapist helps to you to allow some inner freedom so that you may come to an understanding of your inner world and the way it works. You will come to understand your feelings and what is driving your choices. This increased self awareness leads to new levels of self acceptance, self honouring and self appreciation, which empowers you to make different choices and live a more fulfilled life.
Psychological and emotional healing occurs through improved relationship with our self and others. I believe in the therapeutic relationship. I will help you ground your awareness of your body, your feelings and your mind in order to nurture your compassionate attentiveness to your own experience. This will help you to change your relationship to your suffering, so that you may to listen to its message and enhance your capacity to heal.
I hold that our capacity to heal is part of an inherent integrity which resides in every human being; and I also see that accessing and embodying our integrity can be a journey in itself with its peaks and valleys. This is why good healthy boundaries and building trust in the therapeutic relationship is essential to the safety that is needed for good therapeutic outcomes.
