Dip Psych. MA MBACP Zoom Counselling Sessions

About me

Hello and welcome to my site. I am a qualified humanistic and integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor.

I offer Zoom Counselling Sessions.  I work using a holistic approach, which includes most therapeutic approaches and methods, including CBT.

Sometimes, what we are doing isn’t working for us any more and life feels stuck or too difficult, we would like things or situations to be different. At times like this maybe therapy can help?

Therapy can be a safe unbiased place to explore issues and find a way forward.  Sometimes all it takes is a few sessions, for things to shift and to gain a new insight into current problems.

People come to therapy for many reasons below are some of them;

  • To deal with difficult feelings
  • To overcome roles which are holding them back
  • To change destructive patterns of behaviour
  • To free themselves of outdated defence mechanisms
  • To be able to fulfill their full potential.

Therapy can work by helping us make sense of the past and look at what might be unconsciously holding us back. When we understand what has caused our present situation and know what we really want from life then we are ready and able to make changes. Therapy can then help us experiment with different ways of being, which ultimately lead us to be able to fulfill our potential and lead happier more balanced lives.

Training, qualifications & experience

I currently work in private practice offering zoom Counselling sessions. Previously I worked at Manchester University Counselling Service, Didsbury Counselling and Therapy Center, GP Surgery, Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, HELP Counselling Service and a number of other counselling services and settings in London.

I am a member of the BACP and was accredited by UKCP.  I am also a graduate member of the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) a graduate organisational member for UKCP where I completed both a MA and Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have also completed further training in CBT and NLP.

I either work holistically drawing from a number of different psychotherapy approaches or can work specifically using CBT or brief solution focused therapy, depending on the particular needs of a client. From time to time, if you are happy for me to do so, I may use relaxation or imagery techniques. Sessions are normally 50 minutes and therapy can be short term (1-6 sessions) or longer term depending on, which approach we use. Normally we would start with an initial assessment which is preliminary session from which you can decide if further Counselling would be right for you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Fees

£50.00 per session

Additional information

I offer Zoom sessions only, the first session is an initial assessment, this is an opportunity for you to tell me about what you are looking for help with, and for us to together decide if counselling with me is right for you, or if not I might refer you to another therapist or suggest another service or option.

If we go on to have Counselling this will normally initially be for 1-6 sessions and the charge is £50.00, this is also the charge for the initial assessment, paid in advance by bank transfer.

Most people find that 6 sessions can make a really difference and that is often all they need, others may decide to have more longer term counselling.  This is something we would normally decide together on about the 4th session.

If you are interested in an initial assessment please click here to send me an email, briefly explaining what you would like help with. Sometimes it may take me a short while to get back to you however, if you have not heard from me within 48 hours please contact me again.
