Ryan Smith MBACP (Accred) UKRCP - Professional Counsellor & Psychotherapist, CBT

About me

Ryan Smith professional Counsellor & Therapist

I am an experienced and accredited integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and work with adults on a short and long term basis. Certain counselling styles suit some people more than others, so I draw from a range of approaches to provide the right support for you.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred), this ensures my practice is not only of a high standard but both ethical and professional at all times.

I  am a grounded, intuitive and compassionate person, and can help you to work through your issues in a safe and effective way to enable you to gain a new perspective on past and current issues whilst gaining tools to cope with the future. I am respectful of you at all times and the issues you bring to our sessions together. It is always my intention that you feel able to share with me and feel listened to without judgement, whilst experiencing being valued and affirmed.

I use the best techniques from several models of counselling including humanistic, solution focused, CBT and NLP and this enables me to work in a flexible way and therefore be adaptable so that each individual client benefits from every counselling session.

Having previously worked with Cruse Bereavement Care and Mind I have gained extensive experience in both these key areas.  This coupled with my counselling work in private practice and ongoing counselling for various Employee Assistance Programmes and other corporate organisations has led me to successfully work with both male and female clients of all ages presenting with a diverse range of issues.  I am very adaptable and open to working in whatever way is appropriate to you as my client.

I am very solution focused in my practice and can work with you to explore practical methods to cope with the everyday stresses you face in relationships or situations, at home or at work, to ensure that you gain the maximum benefit from your time and financial investment during your counselling sessions in the shortest possible time.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
