About me

If you've been struggling with your mental well-being and want to start making positive changes in your life, finding a safe space to tell your story is a good start.

Let’s be honest, life can be tough, and sometimes it can feel like too much to cope with on your own. You might be struggling to move past traumatic childhood experiences, or want to unpack specific events to better understand how they have been impacting your life. You might be having issues with your family or relationships, or perhaps have a hard time making meaningful connections and struggle with loneliness. Maybe you’re feeling sad, stressed, anxious, isolated, or burnt out, and just want a space to talk about your feelings and understand where they are coming from. No problem is too big or small for us to explore, so get in touch and we can get started.

I work with people who are exploring their identity, struggling with depression/low mood, experiencing anxiety or persistent worrying, dealing with grief and loss, navigating trauma, experiencing life transitions, struggling with loneliness and  isolation, and people who are curious about how their lived experiences have impacted who they are.

As an integrative therapist, I utilise a range of tools to work with whatever you bring to our sessions. This can look like exploring how your past experiences are shaping your present behaviour patterns, looking at your early relationships and attachments and the impact they are having on your current relationships, or helping you to realise your potential through self-acceptance and a better understanding of who you are and who you want to be.

I believe that healing happens though connection, and the part of my work that brings me the most joy is the authentic connections I form with my clients.  We’ll work well together if you’re looking for a genuine relationship with your therapist, and want someone who is warm, direct, laid-back, will challenge you when necessary, and who may use the occasional swear word! I provide you with 50 minutes per week where you have permission to show up completely as yourself, without fear of judgement, so that we can start to make sense of your inner world and understand what it means to be you.

My Values

My practice is affirming of all identities and people. This means that I will validate and affirm your experience of the world and how it has affected you, and advocate for your right to exist exactly as you are. My own lived experience as a Black Woman has given me a deep understanding of what it means to fight against stereotypes and prejudice, and to struggle with identity and belonging. My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own struggles with my mental health and realising that there was a lack of representation for people like me within mental health services. I created my practice with the vision of offering a space where people of all identities can access help and support for their mental/emotional well-being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
