About us

RB Mind is a national Mental Health Charity and has been established in Both Rotherham and Barnsley towns since the 1970's.  We are the professionals to turn to for any Mental Health Issue.

The Counselling Service provided by RB Mind is able to offer counselling support to anyone who may be struggling and needing a non-judgmental, safe place to talk through any issue that may be effecting you and stopping you gaining the most out of your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our counselling service is led by an experienced Counselling supervisor. Behind this is a team of highly skilled and experienced counsellors (both male and female) who are all trained in Person Centred Counselling, but who also intergrate other counselling theories to support clients. Including CBT techniques, Transactual Analysis, Gestalt Therapy to name but a few. 

Mind also Provides Anger Management

Our Children and Young Peoples mental health staff work within many schools in both Rotherham and Barnsley and can also offer one to one sessions and support from our offices to any young person needing help with any issues.

Our counsellors are all members of BACP and you can be assured the counsellor you see will have registration with BACP.

All our counsellors comply with the BACP Ethical Framework and complete a minimum of 30 hours of continued professional development each year.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Additional information

We offer a free 30 minute assessment to ensure you are receiving the most appropriate support.

Our fees are then £210 for all our services. This covers the cost of 6 sessions of either Counselling and 4 sessions of Anger Management. Should you wish to purchase additional sessions, then these can be purchased in blocks of 3's @ £105.

We also offer bereavement support group workshops - Please ask about these services

When we work

Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm Late evenings Tuesday and Wednesday - Sessions available till 7pm

RB Mind is a registered charity. By opting to have your counselling with Mind you can have the confidence in knowing you are seeing a counsellor who have extensive experience.You will be seen in either of our bases in our designated counselling rooms, with administration support and safe waiting rooms. You will also be supporting the continuation of our services, thus supporting the wider community. Mind continues to offer invaluable support to the wider community with social groups and free counselling to the Barnsley council tax payer (although unfortunately there is a waiting list for this service).

Mind offers placements to many counsellors' who are in training, We have and continue to work offering placements to students studying in universities and colleges including but not limited to Leeds, Kirklees, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield. You can be assured if you call RB Mind for your counselling you will be supported by a professional well regarded counselling service.

We are always happy to take referrals from employers who wish to support any member of their staff struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement or any other mental health condition.

R B Mind is able to offer training workshops to organisations both in house or at one of our offices. We specialise in delivering mental health first aid training, suicide awareness, drug & alcohol awareness training.
This is for up to 12 delegates from  £500 per day.

We also deliver: Bereavement support groups.  Stress and anxiety support groups ( 8 weeks of 1.5 hours of support for up to 10 employees ).

For employers we also deliver a specialist package training your staff to be Mental Health Champions and supporting then with this for 12 months.  (up to 8 delegates per time - Ring to discuss.
