About me

'What is the bravest thing you've ever said? asked the boy.
'Help,' said the horse.
'Asking for help isn't giving up,' said the horse. 'It's refusing to give up.”

― Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

It can be daunting to reach out when you're going through a difficult, dark or confusing time. I really appreciate that you're here and you're doing it.

It might be that you’re looking for yourself, or for someone you care about, but either way, you're finding out more about who is out there and who might be a good fit to walk alongside you in whatever you are facing.

What kinds of things might we work on together?

Maybe you’re struggling with big emotions, navigating life transitions, or trying to make sense of who you are and your life experiences. Maybe you just know something feels off, but you’re not sure why.

You don’t need to have all the answers—all I ask you to bring is a willingness to explore, reflect, and be curious.

I offer you a space where you can bring all of you and your story—the messy, the confusing, the painful—without judgment.

How do I work?

I am trained as a 'pluralistic' counsellor, meaning that in the way I work, there is no "one size fits all" approach. It's important to me that we work together to figure out what feels helpful for you, and that might mean we use different tools from different approaches to find our way.

I draw from humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT approaches, with my own style of who I am as a person woven through. It's important to me that I'm warm, curious, present, genuine and non-judgemental - whatever approach we're taking.

When I work with young people, I work mostly from a person-centred perspective, using play therapy skills and creative methods.

Collaboration is central to how I work. From the very beginning, we’ll explore what you hope to gain from our sessions and how we can get there in a way that feels right for you. I'll then keep checking in to see how things are going.

Who do I work with?

I work with individuals - young people aged 11+ and also adults.

I strive to create a counselling space that is inclusive, affirming and culturally sensitive. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities. I hope to work towards building a relationship where you feel safe, respected and like you can bring your full self.

How to get in touch?

If any of this resonates, reach out when you’re ready. No pressure—just a chance to talk and see if this feels like the right fit for you

I offer a free 30-minute introductory call (over the phone or on Zoom).

There is no pressure to commit to counselling with me after this call, or to dive into talking about difficult experiences before you’re ready. This is just a chance to talk about what you're looking for and see what feels right for you. It's really important that you find the right counsellor for you.

Reach out via email, call, or text, and I’ll respond as soon as I can to set up an initial conversation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have worked extensively with care experienced people throughout my career, primarily through participation work, training delivery, and collective advocacy, as well as in my counselling practice. My passion for working with people from this community is deeply rooted in both personal and professional experiences.

'Care experienced' for me, means anyone who has been in any type of care at any time in their life, for any length of time.

'Care' could include living with foster carers, living in a children's home, being looked after at home (having a social worker but staying in the family home), kinship care (living with extended family) or secure care. I include this definition not to restrict, but to make as broad an umbrella as possible - all experiences are welcome.
