About me

I have been in the counselling/psychotherapy profession for 25 years. As an experienced counsellor and group-analytic psychotherapist, I provide a professional counselling and psychotherapy service for adults, adolescents and couples both in 1:1 work and in groups. I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists and consultation/staff support groups to teams and organisations.

Group Therapy can provide support and powerful insight for those seeking help in understanding the dynamics of relationships. Maybe you are struggling at work with your colleagues or your boss? Maybe there are difficulties in communicating with your partner?
Maybe
you have difficulty in making and keeping friendships?

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, group-analytic psychotherapist and supervisor. I have worked in many settings including a Child and Family Mental Health Team for over 10 years, where I specialised in working with parents both individually and in groups. I have set up and run separate Emotional Health and Wellbeing groups for men and women. I have extensive knowledge and experience of working with survivors of child sexual abuse, domestic violence/abuse and parents who have had their children removed into the care system. I have considerable experience of working with families in crisis and adoptive families who are experiencing difficulties.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
