About me

I am a humanistic and integrative Psychotherapist (BSC Hons, MBACP) working online and in person from the Sherwood/Mapperley Park area of Nottingham.

I work with young people and adults, offering a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore and difficulties you may be experiencing. Trauma isn't always caused by major events, it can also be the result of low-level stressors. ''Small-t'' traumas are often overlooked but can be as impactful. The repeated, subtle experiences that chip away at confidence and resilience over time. I understand. It can be hard to find a way forward.

Education-based trauma, being misunderstood, shamed or unsupported? Workplace trauma, toxic environments, bullying or job insecurity? Poverty and discrimination - food insecurity, racism, homophobia, ableism or unsafe housing? We often minimise these experiences and not see them as ''trauma''. These experiences may cause Low self-esteem Anxiety Hypervigilance Burnout lack of confidence stress depression and internalised oppression.

Whatever it is that brings you to counselling, ''small-t or big-t'' trauma, I'm here to support you with overcoming challenges, empower you to more fulfilling relationships with others, and yourself. We can work through these challenges holding you back so you become your best self and find inner peace, healing and  happiness.

I will respond with empathy and curiosity, not correction. I hold a space for both joy and grief simultaneously where you will be feel seen, heard and accepted.

I welcome your call or email to arrange a 20 minute no obligation phone or Zoom call. We'll discuss what brings you to counselling and answer any questions you may have. I may ask some questions to get a deeper sense of you and the issues you are facing. We  decide together whether I'm the right person to help you move forward.

My aim is to keep it simple. To create an environment where you feel comfortable to talk about the things you didn't think you could talk about and explore the things you didn't think you could face and find solutions and strengths you didn't know you had.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Counselling and Psychotherapy can be whatever you choose or need it to be. It is all about you, developing your self-awareness and empowering you to take ownership of your life.

My role is to support you in a professional yet compassionate way. I will not tell you what to do, but instead, I will guide and if the necessary challenge you. I will be there to listen to you and hold your vulnerability with care and respect and enable you to find your own answers; helping you to discover whatever works best for you as an individual.

I cannot walk your walk, but I can be by your side along the way.

As an Integrative therapist, I will take a 360° view of my client, taking into consideration their physical, mental and emotional needs.

By drawing on several different types of therapy, we will find a solution that is unique to you. My aim is to establish a trusting and comfortable relationship with you and by helping you develop self-awareness we will work together to understand your feelings and behaviours.
