About me

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic I am currently offering zoom and telephone therapy at reduced rates. Please contact to find out more information.

I think it is true to say we have all had times where we have struggled and had nobody to talk to and have been unsure where to turn for support. I know because I have experienced it myself. Sometimes we need an outsider, somebody who is detached emotionally and able to help us see things more clearly.

So how can I help?

Well I can offer you that safe and non judgemental place to come and explore what is happening for you and your feelings around it. I follow a model of therapy known as person centred - basically that means my work is centred around YOU! I work with what you bring to sessions. I can work with you for just a few weeks, or longer term depending on your circumstances and the things you wish to work on.

I have a wide range of experience which has included extensive work with children aged 5 upwards. Some of this experience was during my training when I was on placement for a year in a primary school, then following qualification I went on to work at a centre offering counselling and play therapy to young people. I was there for about 16 months. I have also worked with children in my private practice and also now work 2 days a week for an organisation supporting children in schools.

I will offer a safe and welcoming environment for you to allow you to explore what has brought you to seek counselling, and give you the space and time that you need to think, talk and process what is happening for you. I am a member of the BACP (British Association Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I work within their ethical framework, meaning that have regular supervision, and I also attend regular training and development days.

I treat first sessions as an assessment for us to get to know each other and see if we feel able to work together.

I offer both short term and long term work

So if after reading this you feel that I may be able to help and support you please contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time for an initial assessment. Unfortunately I am currently not in a position to offer free assessments.

I also have specialist knowledge and awareness of working with people with learning disabilities

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
