It can sometimes be difficult to talk about how we are feeling. I know because I have been there myself. Often it is easier to have somebody outside the immediate family or friendship circle. An independent, non judgemental person to listen to you and to help you explore your thoughts and feelings.
So how can I help?
Well I can offer you that safe and non judgemental place to come and explore what is happening for you and your feelings around it. I follow a model of therapy known as person centred - basically that means my work is centred around YOU! I work with what you bring to sessions. I can work with you for just a few weeks, or longer term depending on your circumstances and the things you wish to work on.
I have a wide range of experience which has included extensive work with children aged 7-16. Some of this experience was during my training when I was on placement for a year in a primary school, then following qualification I went on to work at a centre offering counselling and play therapy to young people. I was there for about 16 months. I have also worked with children in my private practice and am going to be working with children 1 day per week in a family centre from November 2017.
I will offer a safe and welcoming environment for you to allow you to explore what has brought you to seek counselling, and give you the space and time that you need to think, talk and process what is happening for you. I am a member of the BACP (British Association Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I work within their ethical framework, meaning that have regular supervision, and I also attend regular training and development days.
I treat first sessions as an assessment for us to get to know each other and see if we feel able to work together.
I offer both short term and long term work
So if after reading this you feel that I may be able to help and support you please contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time for an initial assessment. Unfortunately I am currently not in a position to offer free assessments.
