About me

Are you pregnant or a new parent? Are you struggling with sickness, anxiety, depression or symptoms of trauma after a difficult birth?

There are many reasons that pregnancy and birth may not feel like the magical experiences we have been told to expect.  If you are finding it hard to enjoy pregnancy or parenthood our team of specialist Clinical Psychologists can help.   If you are struggling you may believe there is something "wrong" with you but the truth is all mental health problems happen for a reason. We will help you work out why your difficulties began in the first place so we can offer you the most right therapy.

We have effective therapies that can help you feel like yourself again. We can help you to manage severe pregnancy sickness, deal with the after-effects of a difficult birth or overcome anxiety and depression. Our team of specialist psychologists offer evidence-based psychological therapy (including CBT, CFT, ACT &  EMDR).

As a Clinical Psychologist and mum of three I understand the emotional rollercoaster that comes with parenthood. If you work with me or one of our specialist psychologists we will help you understand why your brain and body are reacting in this way so you can take control and be the person and parent you want to be.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years of experience including a diverse career in the NHS and public sector and five years in private practice. I specialise in helping expectant and new parents through some of the most challenging experiences in life including severe sickness in pregnancy and the after-effects of traumatic birth.

Due to my training as a Clinical Psychologist, I am able to draw on several types of therapy and create a flexible plan that is tailor made for you. I have completed additional training in specific evidence based therapies including ACT, EMDR, CBT and Mindfulness that can be helpful for specific problems like anxiety, traumatic experiences and depression.  Our work will be about making the changes in your life that matter to you so that you can be the parent you want to be.

I have also completed additional training in providing effective online therapy so I can offer appointments that fit your busy life.

Further information

How many sessions will I need?

Many people ask me how many sessions I think they will need. I offer integrated psychological therapy which means I draw on several approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Compassion and Mindfulness to create a therapy that is unique to you and meets your needs. I also offer specific trauma therapy for people suffering from PTSD as the result of a traumatic birth or another traumatic incident. This is called EMDR therapy. Length of therapy can vary depending on the difficulties discussed and your preferences. For many clients EMDR can help them overcome the trauma of a difficult birth within four sessions. Sometimes however people feel they need to see me for much longer to get to the root of their difficulties. We will discuss how many sessions you would find helpful during our initial assessment meeting and make a therapy plan together.
