Rosalyn Parkes BA, Dip, IPT accred, RMBACP,
There are times in our lives when life's stresses and sometimes traumatic experiences result in us feeling we just can't cope anymore. This can lead to various negative emotional and physical feelings e.g fearful, anxious, low, depressed, which can lead to us developing unhelpful ways of coping, resulting in a kind of vicious circle (recognise any of this in yourself?). Sometimes we feel we can't or don't want to burden family or friends with our worries, or maybe sometimes they are part of the issues and we just need someone to offload our worries to.
I believe we are all unique, that we all have survival instincts and a deep intuitive knowledge of ourselves. Having a safe confidential and non judgemental space where we can express our thoughts and feelings at our own pace, can help us to understand ourselves more fully, developing the skills to enable us to make more healthy choices and decisions in life (better coping skills).
The core basis of my therapeutic approach is Person Centred, integrating other therapeutic techniques e.g. CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) IPT (interpersonal therapy) and Solution Focused Therapy when needed.
I can offer both short or long term therapy, starting with a 15 minute telephone assessment session where we can get to know each other and discuss your main issues. Together we would then decide if you wish to go ahead with further sessions.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
