UKCP Accredited&BACP Reg Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist
Jersey, St Lawrence, JE3

About me

Hello, I'm Ros, I am a fully qualified, UKCP Accredited & BACP Registered Child, Adolescent & Family Psychotherapist. I am qualified to work therapeutically with children and adolescents of all ages, as well as all adults throughout the life span. I am also a Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.

Being a Psychotherapist and Social Worker are title protected professions.  Title protection, accreditation & registration are in place to enable the public to have an informed understanding and expectation of the provision of service from appropriately qualified professionals who are eligible to hold that (or those) registration(s).

Sessions are available both in person or online within private, confidential therapy rooms set in rural Jersey, where you can be assured you will not accidentally bump into anyone or be seen coming or going from the therapy room.

I welcome any initial questions by email.

I look forward to hearing from you.  All major health insurers are accepted.

Training, qualifications & experience

After 10 years in academic training, I became a Registered MA Qualified Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapist. This involves rigorous training to qualify to work at Masters level with Children and Adolescents, and it's a privilege every day to work with the young people and families who engage with my service.

I hold a Masters of Arts Degree in Transpersonal Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy together with a Diploma in Sandtray Therapy. I am also a fully qualified, practising and Registered Adult Counsellor with BACP, and a fully qualified, Registered Graduate Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Island Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy Ltd (ICAP) was set up by myself to provide bespoke, evidence based, best practice psychotherapy to Children, Adolescents, Families and Adults experiencing difficulties.

I also offer bespoke parenting consultations and parenting programmes to support families on their parenting journeys. With 20+ years experience working with children, young people, adults and families in a variety of settings, from statutory, private practice, state and private schools through to the charitable sector.

At the present time due to the bespoke and limited capacity of my private practice I am unable to work with clients accessing statutory or third sector mental health services eg: CAMHS, CMHT etc.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
